The gas furnace had worked well up until about the 3rd year. In mid\-winter (\-20C) it failed and required a new gas valve and motherboard. Warranty diagnosis and repair took 1+ week during the cold spell of the season (read only electric heat for a week when it was VERY cold). Granted the company did reimburse a stipend for a small electric heater to help heat the house. Repair parts and labour were also covered by warranty. Purchased the Carrier brand based on the name and dealer recommendation and brand reputation and was disappointed when it didn't meet the expectation and after the price that was paid for the product/warranty.

1. To the original owner on eligible equipment for eligible residential applications. Warranty period is 5 years if not registered within 90 days. Jurisdictions where warranty benefits cannot be conditioned on registration will automatically receive a 10-year parts limited warranty, which can be changed to the 5-year parts, plus a 3-year labor option on eligible equipment within the first 90 days after installation. The 5-year parts, plus 3-year labor warranty option is available only if the installing dealer/contractor has elected to participate in the Consumer Choice warranty program and has accepted the Consumer Choice dealer terms and conditions.
2. To the original owner on eligible equipment for eligible residential applications. Lifetime heat exchanger parts limited warranty period is 20 years if not registered within 90 days. This furnace does not comply with SCAQMD Rule 1111 or SJVAPCD Rule 4905, which places a NOx emission limit of 14 ng/J. Therefore, this unit is not eligible to be installed in the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) nor the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD).
