Good system controller

It works well and lets me get all the performance out of my Infinity system. I didn't think I would use the Carrier Smarthome app much, but I actually use the app all the time to adjust the temp or settings or check what the system is doing. It's easy to program your temp setpoints and comfort profiles (Sleep, Wake, Home, Away). The one thing that it doesn't do well is let you set how many days you will be away. I basically had to put it in Away mode indefinitely and then remember to set it to Home mode half a day before we arrived home.

Great & Effective (but Costly) Product

Had the 3 Ton Infinity Heat Pump system installed as a replacement for an older Carrier Performance series unit. The old Unit provided provided 14 years service, so wanted to take advantage of higher efficiency provided by the Infinity system. New unit runs much quieter then the older Heat pump, but is always effective. Technically, found the new Infinity WiFi thermostat was powered from the Aux. Heat coil circuit instead of the Fan blower circuit. In order to use this system in my home required a costly upgrade of my home's back up Generator power.

This control panel was required because it was the only way to access all of the features of the Infinity System. The user interface is clunky, not particularly intuitive, and not visually attractive either, as if it was designed by engineers -- and I'm an engineer! -- instead of a user-interface specialist. It's difficult to find underlying system settings in the various sub-menus, and some of the decision-making it engages in is completely hidden, such as when it decides to run the humidifier. There's also no way to create a comfort profile with a custom name, so you're stuck with Home, Away, etc. I wish we could have used a cheaper and better third-party control panel, but that wasn't an option.
Great system with a FATAL FLAW

I’m considering a class action lawsuit because if the power fluctuates the thermostat goes blank & the system will not run until the circuit breaker is reset. Carrier has a fix but it’s been 2 months & my dealer has the parts but has not installed it & does not return my calls.

Jurisdictions where warranty benefits cannot be conditioned on registration will automatically receive a 10-year parts limited warranty, which can be changed to the 5-year parts, plus a 3-year labor option on eligible equipment within the first 90 days after installation. The 5-year parts, plus 3-year labor warranty option is available only if the installing dealer/contractor has elected to participate in the Consumer Choice warranty program and has accepted the Consumer Choice dealer terms and conditions.
