Carrier replacement furnace
February 26, 2020
My 12 year old carrier furnace died while I was on vacation in February of 2017. My home was down to 8 degrees in the day with help from the sun. I don't know how cold it got in the nights I was away. My service person was excellent but the pro rated warranty is a joke I needed a new furnace and got a 700 dollar visa gift card which I have not received as yet. So my 12 year old furnace was not worth the trouble

Insanely bad customer support

I had a 92% efficiency Carrier furnace with a defective heat exchanger and a life time warranty. Guess what \- they don't actually mean lifetime warranty \- they would not honor the warrranty because we had it replace by a Carrier Rep who indicated that the furnace was beyond salvage at this point because the flame roll out that resulted from the defective heat exchanger had damaged other parts of the furnace, but that we should get credit for the defective parts toward a new furnace. Thus, I bought a higher valued 96% furnace to replace it and cannot even get a response to the e\-mailed questions to customer service. The customer service rep I first spoke with indicated that she would take care of it. The second one was collecting information for the claim and then said we violated the warranty by replacing MORE than the defective parts. When I asked if I could talk to someone else, she refused and said she was as high as the issue could be elevated. I have emailed my questions to the customer service desk and have received no responses. Not what I expected from one of the brands historically in the top three. I will buy a Trane or Lennox next time I have the option.

I was told this product would be a lot quitter than my 25 year old furnace, it turns out it is a lot noisier than it. The low speed fan has a whining sound that is loud enough to wake you out of a deep sleep . Would I recommend this product to anyone \- NO! Too early to tell if this product has had a positive impact on my gas usage, so can't comment on economy of the 96.5 % efficiency
