Great Standard Furnace

I have been quite content with my 58SB0. As far as features go, this is a single-stage furnace. It is either on or off. What is nice is that the error code lights are much easier to interpret, and there are more codes provided to dial in on a particular problem if one arises. This gives the homeowner at least a chance to problem-solve and fix the issue before having to call out a technician. The noise level is to be expected for an 80% efficiency furnace. If anything, I think that this unit might be slightly louder than my previous Carrier unit due to the change in burner design. Nevertheless, if I am in the basement when the furnace kicks on, I do not find it to be bothersome. I am located in Illinois and live in a 1,400-square-foot townhouse with a basement. Arguably too small to benefit from a two-stage furnace, this one-stage furnace has done well to keep the house warm. I have found it beneficial to set the thermostat fan controls to circulate and keep the blower motor running on low to aid in heat distribution. All parts of my home have been quite comfortable with this new furnace. The unit comes with an industry-standard ten-year parts warranty and a twenty-year heat exchanger warranty. This is nothing remarkable. For peace of mind, I opted to obtain a ten-year labor warranty from my Carrier dealer. Since this is a simple 80% efficiency unit, any homeowner with common sense and who religiously replaces their filter with standard MERV 8 filters every three months should save their money on an annual service contract. Yes, I would buy this unit again if I had to.
