Staying cool in the Texas Extreme Heat

Not longer a loyal Carrier Customer

For many years, I was a loyal Carrier customer. In New York, I owned both a 1.5-ton and a 2.5-ton Carrier condenser. Despite more than 11 years of harsh winters, hot summers, and regular exposure to the elements, the paint never peeled and there was no rust. I also washed the condensers monthly to help maintain them. After moving to Hawaii, I decided to purchase another Carrier air handler and condenser. I could have chosen other well-known brands such as Lennox or Bosch, but I specifically waited several months for Carrier's new model after they discontinued the previous generation to transition to the new refrigerant. Unfortunately, after only 9 months, the top grille had already begun to rust. I contacted both my Carrier dealer and Carrier Corporation, hoping they would stand behind their product. I spent several hours working with both parties, but was ultimately told that rust is not covered under the warranty. While I understand warranty limitations, I was disappointed that neither the dealer nor Carrier was willing to offer any goodwill assistance for what appears to be premature corrosion on such a new system. My experience has significantly changed my opinion of the brand. Based on the quality of my previous Carrier systems, I expected much better durability. As a result, my next HVAC system will not be a Carrier, and I can no longer recommend Carrier based on my experience with this product and the lack of customer support.

So far, this unit is great at cooling and is efficient! As far as we can tell, the warranty is very good! The only problem at all was the rather high price and a few carpet stains during installation. I have only heard good things about Carrier and Gary's Heating and Air before installation and since installation.

Small town, only dealer. Good workers. Blower on furnace noisier than the last one but we don't notice it now.

To the original owner on eligible equipment for eligible residential applications. Warranty period is 5 years if not registered within 90 days. Jurisdictions where warranty benefits cannot be conditioned on registration will automatically receive a 10-year parts limited warranty, which can be changed to the 5-year parts, plus a 3-year labor option on eligible equipment within the first 90 days after installation. The 5-year parts, plus 3-year labor warranty option is available only if the installing dealer/contractor has elected to participate in the Consumer Choice warranty program and has accepted the Consumer Choice dealer terms and conditions.
