Refrigerant Piping Design (RPD)
Accurate pipe sizing made simple
Carrier’s Refrigerant Piping Design (RPD) program determines minimum pipe size required to deliver refrigerant between the compressor, condenser and evaporator within specified pressure loss limits. It also sizes vertical risers so oil entrainment is assured.
How Does It Work?
Refrigerant Piping Design (RPD) calculations are based on procedures and data from the ASHRAE® Handbook – Refrigeration. It supports refrigerants R-22, R-134a and R-717 for both comfort cooling and low-temperature applications. With minimal input, users can size suction, hot gas discharge and liquid lines, as well as single and double vertical risers.
The program automatically adjusts for system operating conditions, interpolating data for accurate results. Manual pipe size specifications can also be entered to evaluate resulting pressure drops.
