Good except for the noise

We selected this having a strong preference for Carrier and specifically because it was sold as "very low noise" in addition to the features of operating well in lower temperature situations. Whether it is the unit itself or how it was installed, it is a lot louder than expected. We have had several calls with the installer/representative and while they can see and hear the issue, they have not ever responded with any ideas or solutions to the problem. During the winter, the shutdown/defrost makes a loud buzzing noise, and during the winter, the cooling cycle often sounds like a jet engine taking off, to the point where the neighbors have complained about the noise. I very much like the Carrier brand and products, but this has been a lesser experience than I had hoped for.
