heat pump

Had the new HVAC system for 9 months or so, and discovered that the heat pump was not working properly for the first 6 months. Now that it is working, we like it = quieter. moves air better.
Experience with Heat Pump

It works but it is extremely expensive compared to natural gas. Our average cost in a 4 month period was over 900 per month. Because Of the high cost we will use air conditioning as little as possible this summer. Also, we will not be interested in the initiating the constant starting and stopping of the heat pump. Great regrets with this.

Overall great! Sometimes the heat pump heat is not actually very warm on cold mornings, but decent. Wish the thermostat had less features.
Amazing cold weather performance

This heat pump has done amazingly well at keeping our house warm this past winter without needing to use expensive auxiliary heating except on a couple arctic days. In our house with so-so insulation, the only time heat strips were needed was when the outside temperature dropped below 5°F. Even then, they weren't on all that much. I have a home energy monitor so I can see what is using electricity at any given time. The unit is also surprisingly quiet, only having a slight resonance briefly when the compressor is ramping up. I'd highly recommend this unit if you live anywhere it gets cold in the winter.
