Big and pretty but not reliable?

The idea of it is great but the first time I turned it on for it's first season it burned a fuse. The technician came out and told me that it's supposed to do that. That there's nothing wrong with the system and it will occasionally burn a fuse. Which means the reliability of having a new AC is a pipe dream it actually isn't reliable. Do I believe that no I do not but That is what he decided to tell me instead of telling me that it was installed incorrectly or there was something that needed to be fixed. He actually fixed something while he was here and just chose not to tell me because it might make his company to look bad. We have tested it quite a bit the last couple of weeks since that experience and the fuse hasn't gone out again. Time will tell whether or not this thing is reliable. I chose carrier because I was told it can be trusted to do the job. Now I am questioning that. That whole experience put a bad taste in my mouth though. The unit itself seems to be good and my only complaint about it would be that it's gigantic. You would think technology would have advanced more to where it wouldn't have to have such big giant ac's to do the same size job.

Have been very happy with this air conditioner replacement after my original air conditioner failed after 23 years; no complaints.
Not pleased

Unit constantly short cycles and takes forever to lower house temperature by as little as 1-2 degrees. I upgraded from Trane to Carrier expecting improved performance, but have not seen an improvement.
Very noisy considering Sound Performance advertised as "Quiet"

Compressor fan very noisy... sounds like a small propeller airplane taking off when running. Chose this model due to noise rating, but very disappointed. Significantly louder than the Lennox unit it replaced. Lots of confusion on installer side (wrong model originally delivered). Final invoice still not correct. At least Carrier has the right model listed for warranty / request for review (26SPA6).

The 5-year parts, plus 3-year labor warranty option is available only if the installing dealer/contractor has elected to participate in the Consumer Choice warranty program and has accepted the Consumer Choice dealer terms and conditions.
