Carrier Submits Title 24 JA18 Control Sequences for Certification to the California Energy Commission

Kennesaw, Ga. -

Carrier Corporation (Carrier) announced today that it has submitted a comprehensive library of Title 24 JA18–compliant control sequences for review by the California Energy Commission (CEC). These standardized sequences are designed for the Carrier i‑Vu® building automation system, supporting customers, engineers, and commissioning agents as they prepare for California’s upcoming 2026 energy code requirements. Carrier is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), a global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.

“Title 24 JA18 is reshaping how California projects are specified and delivered,” said Dominic Eorio, Sales Manager, Carrier Controls. “Carrier is meeting that moment with a JA18/GL36 control library designed for the real world: locked, pre‑certified logic; pre‑defined linkages designed to help reduce install time; and audit‑ready reporting intended to document compliance from the first power‑up. It’s a practical way to keep projects moving and give stakeholders confidence throughout the project lifecycle—from design through commissioning and handover.”

Carrier submitted its application libraries to the CEC on December 19, 2025, and certification is anticipated in early 2026, subject to CEC’s review process and timelines. The sequences are designed to simplify compliance, streamline commissioning, and provide a clear, auditable path intended to assist in meeting the new JA18 requirements.

Why Title 24 JA18 Matters

Effective January 1, 2026, Title 24 JA18 requires standardized sequences of operation for HVAC systems in California. These requirements aim to improve energy performance, reduce operational risk, and limit costly delays associated with non-compliant control strategies.

  • Integrity & Traceability — Logic intended to meet certification criteria locked upon download to protect compliance.

  • Simplified Commissioning
  • Energy Efficiency & Performance
  • Designed to Meet Evolving Requirements
