Everyone who came to my house from Richards was nice, but there were aspects of the process that were disappointing. 1. The person who gave me the proposal was patient, came across as very knowledgeable, and generally explained everything clearly and well; however, he did not tell me that the lower cost air conditioner I decided to purchase would be significantly noisier than my mid range air conditioner that was 20 years old. Had I known that, I would not have purchased it. 2. My county requires going through an inspection and permitting process for new HVAC systems. Richards struggled to manage this even though many of their customers are in this county. I had to make several follow up calls to Richards and the county (not supposed to be my responsibility) to get it all resolved, and go through 2 different initial inspections because they were not both correctly grouped under one request + 1 additional because of a problem with the air conditioner (described below). Again, the person at Richards handling this was nice, but often hard to reach and it took over 2 months to work through all this and meant arranging my work schedule a few times to be able to be present. 3. There was a defect with the air conditioner fan blade, making it vibrate loudly and appear to be in danger of coming loose. The initial person who installed it just put in wedges in several places around the outer grill and said that was all it needed. But when summer came, we realized that was not the proper solution. There was clearly something wrong with the air conditioner. I asked Richards to check it, and the person who came said it was a defective fan blade and got it replaced. I definitely appreciated that and the replacement part has worked much better. But a replacement should have been ordered from the very beginning rather than trying to jimmy a fix on a new air conditioner. Even with the new fan blade, as noted above, the air conditioner is much louder than my previous one.

Richards is a class act. They treated my house with respect and did a great job with the install.

Richard's does a good job. They installed my previous furnace and A/C compressor nearly 30 years ago and we have had a maintenance agreement with them ever since.

Richards supported its customer but with little useful support from Carrier. So Richards gets a high rating; Carrier would get a low one on Expertise and Solve Problems if I could rate them. The initial system didn't function properly due to a software fault and Carrier was of little help. Richard's solved the issue by replacing the HP unit, a wasteful and unnecessary effort. Carrier doesn't really want to support or deal with customers and uses dealers as a barrier between them and customers. Our new Carrier HP is quite comfortable and a great improvement over our previous system. But it does have minor flaws that I've found work-arounds for. Carrier could make their product even better if there was a way for customers to communicate with them.

Our inside unit failed and needed replacement. The install went flawlessly, done quickly and a solid install. Fixed a long standing problem with access to the filter that the old unit had. The dealer provided a range of devices with different efficiency ratings and made the choice clear.

Richards HVAC has been our HVAC company for ~30 years. They are honest, talented, reasonably priced, and reliable. Wrt the Carrier unit purchased, the price was fair, installation went well, and thankfully, we've had no problems with the unit. We have an annual service contract on the unit with Richards HVAC, which should take care of any issues downstream if they arise.

Charged thousands of dollars less than some of the commercial companies quoted. Timely, professional, and friendly.

We needed a hot water heater immediately and they got that installed within two days. We had time to wait for the furnace we wanted to get to them, and they installed it and AC unit, along with moving existing heat pump, creating an excellent installation inside the house and external units. Cleaned up several errors from prior contractors so now we have complete HVAC systems we expect to take us next 20 years.

We have benefitted from Richards service for thirty years. Their service has always been first rate, with timely \- think weather \- response when necessary. Over these years we have had an agreement with Richards for twice yearly service. This year, owing to Covid, my wife and I, and the installation team members were as careful as possible, maintaining social distance, and wearing masks. As always we made sure that our bathroom, also with paper towels available to the team as necessary. Just a personal note \- over most of those years \- one gentleman tech, "Roger," was our "regular." My Carrier Infinity air conditioner had stopped working after almost nine years since I had it installed brand new. So I called several contractors to get quotes to replace it under Carrier warranty program. Most of contractors gave me very expensive quotes(like replacing whole system). I contacted Richard air conditioner and heating company and I talked to Mr. John Smith. He explained to me how warranty program worked and gave me reasonable and acceptable quote. They sent two guys and they did fantastic job. I would highly recommend Richard AC and heating because they are very honest and professional.
