The first trip was a diagnostic fee of $90, very fair. But also charged $104 per pound for four pounds of refrigerant (total $417). I was told that was the going price, and most of it went to the government for fees. Perhaps that is the going price, but an Internet search shows the mid 2024 price of R-410A to be $40-75 a pound. I don’t have a problem with the markup, but I don’t like it being presented that “we make very little money on the refrigerant”.
As my system had a leak they had to come back. The price was $2,200 for 9 pounds of refrigerant and 3.5 hours of work (the part needed was under warranty). That equates to about $1,300 for the labor - $375 an hour. That seems high to me.
$2,700 later my Carrier unit, which was under warranty, is fixed.

Ray and John did a great job replacing a 5 ton split system w/ furnace. They had the know how and experience to do it right. There are too many hacks out there who will just sub out the hot attic work to mystery workers who don't know poop. They are nice and friendly guys as well. Would use them again for sure.

Ray and John not only replaced an old system, they fixed lots of issues caused by sloppy work of previous service techs from a big national company. AAA Air Control may not be the cheapest but the quick response and top quality work is more than worth the slightly higher cost. Ray and John are excellent problem solvers and they encountered several from previous work. This local company cares more about their client relationships than about hitting national profit targets. I highly recommend AAA Air Control.
