Carrier Chillers are Named Coolest Thing Made in North Carolina
Charlotte, N.C. -
Carrier’s chillers have been named the Coolest Thing Made in NC as part of an annual competition hosted by the NC Chamber that recognizes the innovation and impact of North Carolina’s manufacturing industry. Carrier is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.
The Charlotte factory has been in operation for more than 25 years, manufacturing tailored chiller solutions that support customers around the world as they pursue energy efficiency, building performance and sustainability goals.
“This recognition is a testament to the dedication, craftmanship and innovation of our Charlotte manufacturing team,” said Chirag Baijal, Managing Director, Applied Equipment, Commercial HVAC Americas, Carrier. “For more than a century, Carrier has helped advance cooling technology, and we are honored to see the innovation pioneered by Willis Carrier recognized as part of the Coolest Thing Made in North Carolina competition.”
The Coolest Thing Made in NC competition celebrates North Carolina’s manufacturing excellence and showcases products that demonstrate innovation, technology leadership and economic impact. This year’s contest featured 88 nominees across three business categories, based on the number of employees. Carrier won in the large business category.
Willis Carrier invented the centrifugal refrigeration machine, commonly known as the chiller, in 1922. The technology helped transform modern life by helping provide comfortable, efficient climate control in hospitals, schools, airports, commercial buildings, industrial facilities and other critical infrastructure around the world. Today, Carrier continues to invest in advanced technologies designed to help enhance efficiency, resiliency and operational performance across the built environment.
“Manufacturing is a cornerstone of North Carolina’s economy, and this award recognizes the strength of the state’s manufacturing sector and the innovation at our Charlotte facility,” said Arnulfo Martinez, Senior Director, Charlotte Operations, Carrier. “We are proud to design and manufacture products that support customers’ building and operational objectives around the world.”
The “Coolest Thing Made in NC” competition coincides with National Manufacturing Month, which highlights modern manufacturing and its role in the economy.
"Congratulations to Carrier on winning the large business category of this year's Coolest Thing Made in NC competition," said NC Chamber President and CEO Gary Salamido. "Carrier Chillers are a great example of the innovation and craftsmanship happening across our state, and voters agreed. What's made in North Carolina makes North Carolina, and we're proud to celebrate Carrier and its team for strengthening our economy, creating opportunity, and helping make our state a top place to do business."
