Carrier Commercial Refrigeration has signed the European Diversity Charter, representing a commitment to implement and promote the principles of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Carrier, a world leader in high-technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
By signing the European Diversity Charter, Carrier Commercial Refrigeration publicly reinforces its existing commitment to maintaining a workplace environment that is open to all, irrespective of their gender, race, skin color, nationality, ethnic origin, religion, world views, disability, age or sexual orientation.
The European Diversity Charter is endorsed and supported by European Commission Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers and has over 7,500 signatories throughout Europe. Launched in 2014, the Czech Republic Diversity Charter is coordinated by Business for Society (Byznys pro spolecnost) , a local non-government organization, in conjunction with the Minister for Social Affairs and Minister for Human Rights, Equal Opportunities and Legislation. More than 50 companies in the Czech Republic have signed the Diversity Charter to date.
Diversity and inclusion are key elements of Carrier Commercial Refrigeration’s operating philosophy, which commits to maintaining a work environment free from discrimination and where all employees are equally respected. Tobler added his signature to the Charter as a representative of Carrier Commercial Refrigeration.
The company’s efforts in this area were publicly recognized last year when two Carrier Commercial Refrigeration entities in the Czech Republic - Carrier chladici technika CZ s.r.o. and Carrier Refrigeration Operation Czech Republic s.r.o - received national recognition as family friendly companies by the Network of Maternity Centers
