CFA Isaac de l’Etoile Collaborates with Carrier Transicold to Welcome Inaugural Class of Refrigeration Interns

In collaboration with Carrier Transicold, the CFA Isaac de I’Etoile apprentice training center recently launched its Embedded Road Refrigeration Technician (TFER) certification program. This professional qualification, recognized by the Ministry of Labor, was created in consultation with refrigeration professionals, including Carrier Transicold France. The work-study students joined the 13-month program in October and will work alongside Carrier Transicold network partners CD Froid Brives, CD Froid Tours and Petracco Toulouse. Carrier Transicold is part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.

“This program is an opportunity to meet the needs of local businesses and to expand our industrial transport maintenance training,” said Céline Morin, head of the CFA Isaac de l’Etoile in Poitiers, which includes more than 200 students.

Carrier Transicold and its network of service partners’ contributions include the donation of second-hand refrigeration units and spare parts for the new maintenance workshop, training for class instructors and recruitment and external communication support through LinkedIn posts and other relevant channels.

“Our profession requires three skills: mechanics, electrical and fluidics. Today when we recruit, it is rare to find candidates with these prerequisites,” said Jean-Michel Begoin, Director of Operations,CD Froid. “This certification program will allow us to offer customized resources and activities to our future graduates and will accelerate learning and skill development. It is the recognition of a demanding, engaging and exciting profession.”

The students spend one week per month at Isaac de l’Etoile to learn key skills, including maintenance, as well as diagnosing and repairing refrigerated equipment and thermal and electrical generators.

“We can’t wait to welcome an apprentice technician,” said Fabien Petracco, Director, ETS Petracco. “For the company, this certification helps us identify and hire a qualified workforce. It allows us to meet the needs of our customers by having training customized to our products.”

Those interested are invited to apply to join the program. After obtaining the certification, students will have the opportunity to be hired into the Carrier network.
