Mccullough Heating & A/C

I can't say enough good things about the sales and installation of my system. That team deserved more than I spent. However, when I went to schedule routine maintenance to keep up my 10yr warranty, the first available appointment was more than a month out. I didn't understand the reason for delay but accepted. The person on the phone then wanted to schedule two separate service visits: one for AC, one for heater. I was OK with this until I realized it would be two separate service charges. Lastly, McCullough could not give me a time at which the tech would arrive despite scheduling a month in advance... only a thirty minute call-ahead during an 8a to 5p window. My commute from work to home is more than 30 minutes and I am seldom in a situation where I can leave work immediately. Despite my situation and request for a smaller arrival window, the appointment was scheduled with an 8a to 5p window with 30-min call ahead. I still don't know if I need to get a separate AC and heater maintenance. I now have to take sick day for routine maintenance on my Carrier System or risk losing my 10yr warranty.

Problems since install finally resolved but took a year of trial and error to figure out the problem stemming from incorrect initial ductwork calculations and mods.

I got a message on my thermostat yesterday to replace my humidifier pad ... a humidfier pad no one ever told me about or showed me how to replace! That's pretty representative of my entire experience with McCullough. The sales person failed to properly measure the space available for the unit, and it wasn't until the installers realized that it wouldn't fit that we had to move the filter box out of the AC closet and use filters in two different wall openings. The installers caused damage to the closet opening and a repair person had to come out to fix the opening and the wall below it. I also had to have multiple visits from service people trying to reduce the noise from the dripping sound, and they had to rearrange the path of the PVC pipes that drip into the sump pump. The one of them caused damage to the door opening and tried to cover it with paint, but laid the paint on so thick it became a textured surface. Then the repairman came back to finish his repair work and didn't make sure the door to the opening would properly latch, so he had to come back again too. EVERYONE was very nice, but overall, the service was not the best. And, because you don't give me enough options for the next question, I want to say that McCullough is a long-time local business. And I did my research first and found on multiple websites that they are well respected and highly rated. It just kind of sucks that my experience was not four or five stars.

I had some concerns post-install, and I had to escalate the issue because my salesman kept assuring me he'd "get back to me" but never did. The problem was that they installed it with all the tubing facing the street, with the front of the unit (with the logo) facing sideways, which was very ugly -- lots of black foam insulation was all I could see. The post-install inspector tried to gaslight me that this was the correct way to install the unit, obviously just trying to run interference / damage control, even though their own website had pictures of it installed with the logo facing outward, as you'd expect. The install techs even said they were instructed to install it like that due to a supposed manufacturer defect. They sure were nice right up until the proverbial check cleared the bank.

Requested follow up on modification to the condensation drain and never received a response.

We have been with McCullough's since we first needed HVAC servicing for our house. The company is reliable, and all the employees of McCullough's have been responsive and helpful regarding options, maintenance, and keep our HVAC systems running optimally.

Actually I saw the representative's truck park in his driveway in my subdivision and I stop by one morning and knock on his door!!!

With no basis of comparison, these questions seem moot. The weatherization crew seemed confused by my questions, whether about weatherstripping exterior doors or explaining why attic insulation collapsed into the HVAC closet.

The entire team did an excellent job. I found our consultant to be extremely knowledgeable and very personable. Our install team was courteous and did a great job. They sent out a follow up Sr Technician to do a QA review. Throughout the process all employees dud a great job of answering questions and ensuring I understood what to expect. I was also thoroughly impressed by the way that the team spoke of and displayed McCullough's values. I would highly recommend this company.

They were very efficient, and were able to explain why my old AC was failing and what I could expect from a new system. They came out to install and completed everything the same day. They were professional, courteous, and answered all of my questions. Definitely recommend!

If I wrote everything all the bad things that have happened it would take me hours, so I won't bother. Installation was NEVER completed. So\-called "comfort adviser" has been worthless. Caught him in a lie the last time we talked, two weeks ago. Called him out on it and he emitted an audible groan. I want nothing to do with him in the future. Whenever this is all repaired, I want a truly competent person or people to do it. At my convenience, on my schedule. Otherwise, I will sue McCullough, big\-time. Have already spoken with an attorney and I have a great case. Period.

Very pleased by McCullough Heating \& A/C. Bruce Weathery and Thomas Castro were very friendly, skilled and efficient in installing the AC unit.

We had gotten an estimate on a new unit earlier in the year and decided to wait until fall. But our AC died during 100+ weather. They were able to come out in 3 days, but as a courtesy they installed a couple of window units so we wouldn't melt. So kind and accommodating, and the installers were very professional and speedy.

My recent experience with McCullough has been a mixed bag. On the positive side, I encountered some dedicated individuals in the team who worked diligently to install and later resolve issues with my HVAC system. However, the overall experience leaves much to be desired. The initial installation process went smoothly, but a critical oversight emerged regarding the accessibility of my water heater. It took an extensive back\-and\-forth email exchange to arrive at a solution. While McCullough did eventually address the issue by re\-routing the return ducts, the resolution process was protracted and required a significant time investment on my part. What's disappointing is that there was a lack of ownership and proactive communication from McCullough's end throughout this ordeal. Even though I invested considerable time and effort to find a solution, there was no goodwill refund offered for the hours spent. In the end, I have a functioning HVAC system, but the overall experience left a sour taste in my mouth. I appreciate the individuals who worked on my project, but I hope McCullough can improve its customer service and communication to prevent similar situations in the future.

In the business world there is a phrase "From the Cradle To The Grave". I am very satisfied with the service received; beginning with the call center that scheduled my appointment, to the Comfort Advisor, to the Installers. I researched the Better Business Bureau, searched the website on the best HVAC brands for residential and I looked for 5 star businesses and McCullough was at the top of the list!

McCullough was incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and helpful throughout the process. They provided good options for me to chose from based on my priorities. When my existing system failed (after I already had scheduled the replacement), they put in a temporary fix that got us through the ongoing heatwave. Once the team came to do the installation, they were able to save us a few hundred dollars by putting in a creative fix for a hot room. The system is fantastic!

I chose McCullough out of 3 bids, based in large part on the respectful and thorough initial consult with their representative. Their pricing was competitive but it wasn't the cheapest. I still chose them and I don't regret it. They answered my questions, set expectations, and made sure the job was done right even after the new system and duct work were installed. They helped me qualify for Austin Energy Efficiency rebates, which helped defray the unexpected cost of replacing a broken HVAC, not to mention making my home better for the environment. I told a friend that he should definitely include McCullough amongst his bids for his new HVAC system. Guess what? McCullough beat out 6 bids there and, from what I hear, satisfied a second customer after me.

I have worked with another leading heating and air conditioning Austin company for many years, but when we decided to get a new HVAC system with the rebates that are available we had McCullough bid on the job as well. They not only were very reasonable, but Troy was excellent in describing our options with complete pricing details and how the system could be custom fit into our home. He was very patient with all of our questions. He is also extremely knowledgeable and responsive to emails and phone calls. When the QC team visited, they were also professional, and Jimmy was able to answer all of our questions, particularly about how the new thermostats work. Most impressive was that, unlike other vendors who have worked in our home, the QC team totally vacuumed the areas where they had worked, and the house looked perfectly clean when they left! I am looking forward to their regular inspections of our units every 6 months so that they will last a long time. The company and team members are a delight to work with.

My family purchased TWO brand new systems from McCullough Heating \& Air Conditioning the install took place on Saturday May 28th, 2022. On Sunday, May 30th the upstairs was having difficulty cooling on Monday the temp upstairs was 82\*. I called the emergency services and requested a technician to return to the home. My family paid in full the day of service and the upstairs system stopped working on Monday. The technician stated that the old wiring/ electrical was used for the new system and was damaged from the previous system. We have had a brand new roof, new insulation and new duct work prior to this installation. Apparently, the electrical components/ wiring was not inspected prior or during the installation. The technician pulled up the wiring and found that most likely rodents previously had damaged the wires. The wires were buried in the insulation according to the technician. The technician also stated that the wires for the upstairs system were crossed with the downstairs system. The company has been difficult to get a call back from the sales person \- when they did finally call back they stated they would have a adviser come\-out June 16th to look at the issues. This in our opinion is a very poor response to a problem that needs to be addressed immediately. Anytime, you have electrical issues an improper installation many factors can come into play \- risks of damages to the new equipment and a risk of electrical or other issues to our home. Does your company have a contact number to utilize to try to get a representative to help get a resolution with this company.

I'd say the experience was average. The installers left the house a little messy after the first day and left the attic scuttle open. The second day they came (when they were supposed to install the insulation) they forgot the hose so we had to reschedule insulation installation. When they came back to blow in the insulation they left the attic scuttle open again. Finally, there's a supply diffuser that hasn't been replaced yet. The original tech apparently wrote the wrong replacement size; I had to measure it and let them know the right size.

The AC failed shortly after that and they provided same day service.The tech, Hermann, had me up in running in about 30 minutes. All of the representatives of the company I have dealt have been courteous and knowledgeable. Recommended.

McCullough's service personnel were very candid and thorough in advising us about how to deal with our problems with our 13 year old air conditioner coil and 20 year old system. We received a thorough bid, with helpful background material, on replacement of our entire air conditioning system as well as a bid on replacing the coil only as the leak of Pruon was found there. McCullough also clarified that the coil it installed in place of the older unit would work with the balance of the a/c and furnace equipment when they need to be replaced. McCullough also was competitive in its bid with the other Carrier dealer who bid on replacement. Finally, McCullough's installation team of taking out the old coil and installing the new coil and related equipment. I especially appreciated McCullough sending out a quality control inspector later to check that the crew did a good job for us.

Originally I called for a system maintenance. The call turned into a diagnostic call as my system stopped working properly a couple of days before the scheduled call. My system was dead. I needed a new HVAC system. The old system was a Carrier and had worked like a champ for 17 years. It made it through the 2021 Winter freeze with a month to spare. Can't complain about that. McCullough explained my options, I made my choice. They even helped get me financing I can live with. I was impressed with the crews that came out to work. They certainly knew what they were doing and worked efficiently. The system installation Techs were finished first and the work looked gorgeous. The duct team was here all day and I didn't envy them working up in that attic space. But they got their job done and it looks so good. Both crews cleaned up any mess they had made. Everyone was so pleasant and easy to work with. So we now have a wonderful new, very quiet Carrier heat pump HVAC, new duct work, and a groovy new thermostat that I can track or use with my cell phone or computer. I think it has improved the air quality in the house quite a bit.

The entire experience from sales rep to finance to quality assurance check was all top\-notch. And the folks who executed were professional and respectful of my home.

They installed a new central air, duct work and all. These guys are Professionals. They went above and beyond my expectations. Their install Techs did a better than I thought possible job. Kudos to these guys!

This was our third new installation of a carrier system with McCullough Heating and Air in three different houses. They are knowledgeable about the size and types of system we needed. Their pricing is reasonable and they take care of the paperwork for the City and other rebates that apply. Their installers are careful and detailed and do quality work. After the install, a quality control person came out and carefully checked all work. We will continue to use this company for our AC and Heating needs.

These folks have great depth of talent and it showed. From initial proposal (quite competitive) through installation and final QC check every employee showed professionalism and depth of experience. I didn't know this kind of quality existed in a company any more.

Installation took 2 days. With the excessive heat, I don't know how the installers do it! They need to get paid more for making all in the company look great. They will come back and do an inspection. The outdoor unit makes a rattling sound off and on so hopefully they can check on that. Other than that, they made sure we had some cool air the first night they left so half the system was up and running. They didn't have to do that but they did since we were out of AC off and on for a month. They stayed all day working and that is commendable for any company who has installers that are that dedicated. Yes I would recommend them!

The crew that came out to install my new system were top\-notch and knew their product well. The install was flawless! Everything worked perfectly when the system was turned on. No problems at all.

I had a fabulous experience from beginning to end with McCullough HVAC. First contact was with Project Manager, Mr. Ellington. He was very knowledgeable, answered my questions, talked about his company and Carrier products and explained the replacement process. I told him I was interviewing 2 other HVAC companies. After reviewing all the proposals, I chose McCullough. The installtion was scheduled 3 days out and my old unit was virtually out of refrigerant, so Mr. Ellington sent someone to add enough refrigerant to tide me over until the install. Surprisingly, McCullough scheduled my all\-day installation on a Saturday, and sent me their best installers! I gladly paid the balance of the invoice on Monday (yesterday). Finally, today I had a couple of questions and Toya in customer service did an excellent job in answering my questions. With the added stress of the Covid\-19 pandemic everthing from beginning to end went exceedingly well. Thank You, McCullough!

I gave them a call, Alex was very quick and helpful to get our rebates and help us get financing as well. Our AC was 12 years old so we did a complete upgrade. Our bedroom was always hot in the summer and cold in the winter, so Alex suggested to install new duct/vent in our bedroom which made a major difference in temperature. Angel and Aaron were quick to install my new system and were very professional. I only took away one star because of some minor damage that was done to my property during the install (slight damage to my door frame and one of my plants was crushed when they were carrying the compressor to the back yard). Again, nothing major, but a bit more attention to detail and a pointing out what had happened before they left would've gone a long way. Overall, their work was stellar and the value of their service was by far the best I found while shopping around. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to update their AC system.

Awesome, professional install!! Tech's were extremely knowledgeable, and were able to quickly assess some issues during the install and quickly come up with a solution. The system works like a dream!! McCullough's team, from the sales rep to the installers are all very professional and I feel comfortable already for the years to come ahead of me for them to keep my new unit serviced!!!
