Noise and sound issues
January 20, 2026
I chose a Carrier when my old system broke down after almost 20 years upon the recommendation of a friend who lives in the same condo complex and is happy with her Carrier system. I was expecting it to be quieter but it is also loud as my old Goodman system. In addition, after a few months there is a ticking/clicking sound that comes intermittently when it is not running. The installer tried to trouble shoot what is causing the sound but has not been able to do so since he has not been able to hear the sound during the times he came here to my condo unit. I am thinking that it is because he takes out the cover of the air handler as soon as he gets here to my place which changes the conditions when I am able to hear it. The next time I ask the installer to check on the system I will tell him not to remove the cover right away and see if he will be able to hear the sound. Please see Case ID 07003052 for the details of my issue which I previously reported. I will appreciate any recommendation on how to stop the ticking/clicking sound as well as lower the noise level of the system.
