Carrier Transicold Vector HE 17 Enhances Company’s Next-Generation Trailer Range

RUEIL-MALMAISON, France -

Carrier Transicold has unveiled its newest temperature-controlled trailer unit, the Vector® HE 17 unit, at IAA Transportation 2022. The new system, featuring variable frequency drive technology combined with proven E-Drive all-electric technology, enhances the company’s range of Vector High Efficiency (HE) units. Achieving best-in-class total cost of ownership, the Vector HE 17 delivers improved refrigeration output while significantly reducing fuel consumption. Carrier Transicold is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), the leading global provider of healthy, safe, sustainable and intelligent building and cold chain solutions.

Offering complete versatility for all trailer applications, the new Vector HE 17 is set to be released to market in 2023. When compared to the legacy Vector 1550 unit, it will offer customers greater refrigeration capacity output at above 16 kW and best-in-class fuel consumption.

“The Vector HE 17 enhances our range of high efficiency trailer systems, complementing the proven entry-tier Vector S 15 and flagship Vector HE 19 also being compatible with our all-electric, autonomous Vector eCool unit,” said Victor Calvo, VP & General Manager, Carrier Transicold. “Its arrival ensures all Carrier Transicold customers have access to more powerful, efficient, sustainable trailer technology that best fits their operational and environmental needs.”

The new Vector HE 17 unit embeds Carrier Transicold’s pioneering all-electric E-Drive™ technology, a mainstay of the company’s trailer systems since 1999, removing the need for the mechanical transmissions found in belt-driven refrigeration systems and converting engine power into electricity to drive the unit. It also builds on the Vector HE 19 unit’s proven performance of a hermetic compressor and economizer, as well as the efficiency of a microchannel heat exchanger condenser. Combined with the new variable frequency drive management that continuously alters the motor speed to match the air demand, it delivers greater efficiency, reduces the risk of refrigerant leaks and significantly lower fuel consumption.

The Vector HE 17 will be available in PIEK (city version) and silent variants, offering improved sound performance over the standard unit, making it ideal for both long haul and urban operations.

In addition, the unit is equipped with a telematics box making it compatible with Carrier Transicold's Lynx™ Fleet digital ecosystem* which combines refrigeration equipment data with machine learning to enable customers to make faster, data-driven decisions for improving the effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of their supply chains.

The release of the Vector HE 17 is another significant step forward for Carrier Transicold as it continues to push toward its 2030 Environmental, Social and Governance goal of helping its customers reduce their carbon footprint by more than 1 gigaton.
