New Carrier Transicold Supra HE Range Achieves Certicold Pharma Certification for Pharmaceutical Transport

Three models within Carrier Transicold’s new range of Supra® HE (High Efficiency) truck-mounted temperature-controlled units have successfully attained Certicold Pharma certification, reinforcing their suitability for pharmaceutical applications that demand strict temperature controls and monitoring. Carrier Transicold is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), the leading global provider of healthy, safe, sustainable and intelligent building and cold chain solutions.

The new Supra HE 9, 11 and 13 models – launched at Solutrans in November 2021 – each have earned the independent seal of approval from Certicold. Recognised across Europe, this designation is awarded to systems that meet a strict set of criteria focused on quality manufacturing, accuracy, reliability and compliance. Units must also pass a series of laboratory tests in extreme temperature conditions, including a detailed audit of the production process.

“Quality assurance for our customers is something Carrier Transicold takes incredibly seriously,” said Jean-Pascal Vielfaure, Director, Southern Europe, Carrier Transicold. “We are extremely proud to add the Certicold Pharma label to the three most powerful units in the new Supra HE range. In addition to phenomenal performance, reliability and sustainability, our customers also have an independent guarantee of quality and compliance – which in pharmaceutical transport is hugely significant.”

The new range of high-efficiency Supra refrigeration units follow the approach first seen in the flagship trailer system, the Carrier Transicold Vector® HE 19, and will continue to contribute to reducing customers’ carbon footprint by one gigaton as part of the company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals for 2030.

The Supra HE merges mechanical and electrical subsystems into a quieter, lighter and smaller unit, delivering improved efficiency, performance and uptime. The Supra HE range is made up of five new models and is available in four different versions (standard, silent, Nordic and road only).

Tested under extreme operating conditions in external temperatures ranging between -30 C and +55 C, all Supra HE systems deliver up to 53%1 improvement in energy performance in comparison with the standard Supra, and consume up to 41%1 less fuel than the legacy unit, which helps to significantly reduce pollutant emissions.

With pinpoint set-point control an integral part of the Certicold approval process, the Supra HE units all work in conjunction with the company’s powerful DataCold™ 300 and 600 temperature recorders, which provide operators easy access to a wealth of important information on system performance.

In addition, this information can be integrated into Carrier's Lynx® Fleet digital platform2 – which combines refrigeration equipment data with machine learning to enable customers to make faster, data-driven decisions for improving the effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of their supply chains.

To ensure continued conformity to the Certicold criteria, all Supra units will be  tested at a dedicated Certicold Pharma Test Centre – with many of these already located at Carrier Transicold service sites across Europe – every three years.
