There are many different skillsets in the life of a field technician — engineering, IT infrastructure, technical support, and computer programming, to name a few. This ES training will prepare field technicians and engineers to confidently install, commission, troubleshoot, and edit a graphic utilizing ViewBuilder. This course is designed to develop an efficient field technician and engineer for a job site right away.

The ES ViewBuilder Advanced course has been developed for Carrier Field Office field technicians/engineers who are new to the Carrier i-Vu Tools hardware and software.

Learning Objectives

To acquire a working knowledge of the ViewBuilder application and its options as well as editing equipment and floorplan graphics.

Learning Methods Used

This course is instructor-led in a classroom setting with extensive hands-on tasks to present the material. Student’s achievement of the learning objectives is determined by successful completion of the course, and final written exam.

Equipment Graphics

  • Make a single .view file for identical .equipment files 
  • Make a single .view file for different .equipment files 
  • Make a ViewBuilder symbol • Place the background ductwork and arrows 
  • Program smaller components 
  • Find/Replace 
  • Show/Hide expressions 
  • Math expressions 
  • Variable color expression 
  • Associating an On-Off-Auto symbol
  • Distribute and align components 
  • Links to metering equipment 
  • Trend displays and current time 
  • External links to a file 
  • Enable/Disable conditional expressions
  • Adding an image list 
  • Notes display for graphics

Technical Graphics

  • Add a second .view to an i-Vu tree item 
  • Create external links to Carrier support 
  • Create internal links to i-Vu support 
  • Create a Point configuration table 
  • Create a controller information table 
  • Create HTML control buttons

Floorplans

  • Floorplan with colormap report

MUST BE CS/IS CERTIFIED

Materials Needed

Learners will be provided a laptop with i-Vu Tools v7.0 and USB-Link Kit to use for this course.

Class hours

Classes run 8am-5pm EDT.

Location & lodging

Kennesaw, Georgia, unless noted otherwise. An email with directions to the facility and lodging information will be provided once the class is confirmed, approximately 3 weeks prior to start date.
