Carrier Transicold Unveils Array of Electric and Sustainable Solutions at IAA Transportation 2022

RUEIL-MALMAISON, France -

Sept. 20-25, Hall 27 - Stand E35

Carrier Transicold today unveiled its array of next-generation sustainable and electric temperature-controlled transport units at IAA Transportation 2022 in Hannover, Germany. Alongside the all-new Pulsor® eCool™ and Vector® HE 17™ systems, visitors will also have a chance to see Carrier’s first hydrogen fuel cell-powered Vector trailer unit – a milestone for the future of temperature-controlled transport solutions that work to decarbonize the cold chain. Carrier Transicold is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), the leading global provider of healthy, safe, sustainable, and intelligent building and cold chain solutions.

Developed in collaboration with Bosch and PowerCell Sweden AB, the new hydrogen fuel cell system successfully integrates into the standard Vector HE 19 chassis. Through a direct interface between the fuel cell and refrigeration unit, the new Vector removes the need for a separately mounted buffer battery system. The result is a zero direct emissions unit that delivers the same performance and refrigeration capacity as the standard diesel-powered Vector HE 19.

Carrier Transicold now offers an electric product for all vehicle types and sizes, from vans and light commercials to rigid trucks and trailers. The latest all-electric product makes its debut at IAA Transportation, where visitors can see Carrier Transicold’s new Pulsor eCool unit, designed for the ever-growing electric light commercial vehicle (LCV) market – a first of its kind for LCVs. The system operates through a direct connection to the high direct current (DC) voltage of the main vehicle batteries, removing the need for an additional converter or battery pack. This cost-effective plug-and-play design can communicate in real-time with vehicle data to ensure optimal temperature control and battery performance, making it the ideal solution for last-mile delivery and electrification.

Carrier Transicold also unveiled the latest in its engineless range, the Syberia 14 unit. With its high cooling capacity of up to 14 kW in multi-temperature applications, the nose-mount solution is designed to get the most from the company’s E-Drive technology.

The new Vector HE 17 unit, which combines variable frequency drive technology on the compressor with proven E-Drive all-electric technology, enhances the company’s range of Vector high efficiency (HE) systems. Achieving both best-in-class fuel consumption and total cost of ownership, the Vector HE 17 unit delivers improved refrigeration performance.

The new variable frequency drive technology on the compressor continuously alters the motor speed to match the cooling demand, increasing efficiency and reducing fuel consumption. The Vector HE 17 is also available in PIEK (City version) and silent variants, offering improved sound performance over the standard unit, making it ideally suited to both long haul and urban operations.

The stand also features Carrier Transicold’s flagship Vector eCool all-electric engineless refrigerated trailer system – which will now be available with the latest SAF TRAKr e-axle. Designed and tested specifically for the system, the new axle offers excellent operational efficiency, lower weight, and a longer maintenance interval. The SAF TRAKr will sit alongside the legacy Vector eCool axle, providing customers with a greater choice when specifying the system.

These innovations are the latest examples of Carrier Transicold’s ongoing sustainability efforts and add to its electrification and decarbonisation-driven portfolio, supporting Carrier’s 2030 Environmental, Social, and Governance goal of helping its customers reduce their carbon footprint by more than one gigaton.
