BAKO Western Gains Operational Edge with Carrier Lynx Fleet

WARRINGTON, England -

BAKO Western has successfully completed its three-year fleet modernization initiative with the delivery of its final rigid truck, mounted with a Carrier Transicold Supra 1150 Multi-Temperature (MT) unit. This milestone marks the full integration of advanced Carrier Lynx Fleet technology across all of its temperature-controlled vehicle operations. Leveraging advanced Internet of Things (IOT) capabilities, machine learning and analytics technology, the platform plays a pivotal role in providing detailed fleet visibility, strengthening BAKO Western’s cold chain management and maximising operational efficiency. Carrier Transicold is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.

As the first UK adopter of Lynx Fleet in 2022, BAKO Western has completed its full fleet upgrade with the delivery of the latest 18-tonne Iveco Eurocargo Supra-mounted truck, replacing a similar-spec rigid vehicle, marking the full integration of all 20 Carrier-cooled units backed by the powerful digital platform. The continued investment in the technology reflects the strong confidence in Lynx Fleet, which has delivered measurable improvements in compliance, monitoring and operational efficiency modernising the delivery network and reinforcing the BAKO Western’s commitment to innovation and service excellence.

“Lynx Fleet has truly transformed how we work,” said Mark Curtis, Transport Manager, BAKO Western. “It’s far more advanced than our previous basic telematics platform, and you can tell it’s been designed with the practicalities of logistics work in mind. The fact that we can access in-depth breakdowns of temperatures, door-openings, engine operation and more, in real-time, is invaluable.”

Through Lynx Fleet, BAKO Western can easily manage each of its Carrier Transicold units by automating key processes. The platform can be used to initiate two-way remote commands, including set point control, engine running mode changes and defrost instructions, with dedicated alerts established to ensure cold chain compliance.

“With the ability to also look back at historic data, Lynx Fleet has given us a level of confidence in our operation that really sets us apart, helping to prove to our customers that we’re serious about protecting everything we deliver,” said Curtis.

Through comprehensive end-to-end visibility, the system offers an intuitive way to drill down into specific variables, instantly creating accurate reports on metrics such as engine operation and delivery temperatures. In addition, temperature-out-of-range alarms, event notifications like door openings within specified geo-fenced areas, and more, can also be leveraged to ensure optimal performance.

BAKO Western is also using Carrier Transicold’s newly launched Lynx Fleet Mobile app, which seamlessly integrates with the existing desktop platform. Designed with a streamlined interface, the app allows users to quickly assess and monitor asset status, enabling them to respond to potential risks before they become costly problems.

“We’re delighted that BAKO Western continues to see Lynx Fleet’s value and impact,” said Sean Griffiths, Key Accounts Manager, Carrier Transicold UK. “The company has proven to be an ideal use case for the platform, clearly demonstrating the real-world opportunities of embracing vehicle connectivity in the temperature-controlled sector.”

Handling up to 100 tonnes of goods daily, BAKO Western specialises in wholesale baking supplies. Operating from its distribution center in Cullompton, Devon, the company delivers a comprehensive range of ambient, chilled and frozen products to customers across the Southwest and surrounding areas.
