In-Person Classroom Option

Headquartered in Charlotte, NC, Carrier University offers comprehensive HVAC training in a wide range of areas including technical skills, HVAC service, HVAC controls, HVAC design and sustainable building solutions.

AHLA members may select one eligible classroom course delivered in a fully equipped, state-of-the-art lab facility with operating equipment for hands-on practice. In-person courses are available at a 25% discount. Travel and related expenses are not included.

Description

Build a practical foundation in air conditioning with this concise online course designed for learners who are new to HVAC or do not have a technical background. The course introduces the essentials of human comfort, the air cycle, the refrigeration cycle, heat pumps and air conditioning equipment through two self-paced modules. Each module includes knowledge checks and a final assessment; successful completion of both assessments is required to receive credit. Carrier University is authorized by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) to offer 0.3 CEUs for this course, equivalent to 3 PDHs.

Description

Develop the electrical knowledge needed to support effective HVAC service. This online training series explains electrical circuits, common components and how they function within heating and air conditioning systems. Presented in straightforward language for learners who are newer to the industry, the course builds understanding of basic electrical troubleshooting techniques. Each self-paced module includes a quiz and final exam with references back to the course material. To receive FAD credit, participants must pass the module or final exam.

Description

Strengthen heat pump service skills with hands-on training focused on operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and accurate diagnostics. Designed for HVAC technicians, this course covers fixed, two-speed and variable-speed air-to-air heat pumps, water source heat pumps, commercial split systems and packaged units, including dual-fuel units. Lab activities reinforce real-world service practices, including airflow, defrost operation and troubleshooting, supplemental heating, dual-fuel setup, refrigerant charging and recovery, including R-454B.
