This course is a great place to start your i-Vu® journey! If you have little or no experience with the Carrier i-Vu system or you’ve never attended a Carrier training course, i-Vu Essentials is for you. In this course, you will work with the i-Vu user interface, create operators and privileges, develop schedules, troubleshoot with alarms and trends, and document using i-Vu’s reporting features. Higher-end topics are also included.
The i-Vu Essentials course has been developed for end users of an i-Vu system to immediately and effectively utilize the essential features of a Building Management System.

There are many different skill sets in the life of a field technician — engineering, IT infrastructure, technical support, and computer programming, to name a few. Silver training will prepare field technicians to confidently install, commission, troubleshoot, and edit an i-Vu® system.

After successfully completing this course, you will be able to setup complex Carrier networks, troubleshoot networks, and create a secure i-Vu site. Focus is on troubleshooting an i-Vu system by reading a Wireshark capture.

Training Methods Used
Traditional Classroom: A live instructor will lead up to 12 students (course dependent) in hands-on exercises with minimal lecture in between. Using the situated learning techniques of the Kirkpatrick Model, this methodology fosters a collaborative learning environment where students are positioned to maximize knowledge retention. This course is a 2-day event.
eLearning: A live instructor will lead students using video conferencing and remote access software. The students will have remote access to a training station to complete hands-on tasks, giving them a virtual classroom experience from many miles away. This course is hosted in the same 2-day timeframe and manner as the traditional classroom format.
Students must have the following access and hardware requirements:
- Internet access
- Administrative rights on your PC to install video conferencing and ConnectWise
- Audio availability through PC or Phone
- Web Camera
To enhance the student experience, we recommend:
- Additional laptop or desktop (one for Video conferencing Meeting & one for student tasks)
- OR additional monitor attached to your PC
- Printer
- Mouse (tablet touch screen or PC touchpad not recommended)
- Navigation: i-Vu system architecture • Use a room sensor
- Operator Access: Privileges Overview • Create an Operator for yourself • Create operators and assign privileges
- Schedules: Review the school year calendar • Create i-Vu schedule groups • Create i-Vu schedules • Edit and delete schedules • Check your work • Run schedule reports
- Trends: Create a trend graph • Copy a trend graph • Enabling trending for a point
- Alarms: Alarm Summary Tab • Acknowledge and delete alarms • Manage an alarm incident
- Global Modify: View or change a single property in multiple programs
- Reports: Schedule a report
- Logic: Verify a sequence of operations • Edit logic parameters
