Carrier Expands AquaEdge™ 23XRV Line
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -
Carrier has extended its award-winning, water-cooled variable-speed screw chiller line, the AquaEdge 23XRV series, to offer the widest available range for this product segment. With its latest line expansion down to 200 tons in the first half of 2014, Carrier leads the industry with environmentally responsible offerings from 200 to 550 tons. The AquaEdge 23XRV uses non-ozone depleting HFC-134a refrigerant and patented compression technology, making it one of the most efficient, reliable and durable chillers in the industry. Carrier, the world’s leader in high-technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
The new 200- to 300-ton range features a slim footprint with a width of just 47 inches, which offers building owners significant flexibility. Able to fit through standard doors, the AquaEdge 23XRV provides ample mobility to navigate buildings without having to remove existing walls or other structural elements.
AquaEdge 23XRV water-cooled chillers are the world’s first integrated variable-speed, water-cooled screw chillers, and they incorporate significant breakthroughs in water-cooled chiller technology to provide superior efficiency and reliability at true operating conditions without compromising the environment. Quality design and construction make the AquaEdge 23XRV chillers the best choice for modern, efficient chilled-water plants.
“With the expansion of the AquaEdge 23XRV line down to 200 tons, we’ve added a new level of flexibility for building owners,” stated Greg Alcorn, vice president, commercial sales and marketing, Carrier. “These new models allow for convenient retrofitting of existing buildings, but also provide an ideal solution for new chilled-water plants as well.”
The AquaEdge 23XRV can achieve Integrated Part Load Values (IPLV) as low as 0.299 kW/Ton, which exceeds the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) 90.1 efficiency standards by as much as 44 percent.
In addition to this expansion, Carrier’s established 19- and 23-series Evergreen chillers have adopted the new AquaEdge name. Built with proven technology, this addition increases the line’s capacity range, while providing a simplified naming structure for streamlined future portfolio expansion. The AquaEdge line rounds out Carrier’s new Aqua Series, which includes the smaller-capacity AquaSnap® and the medium-capacity AquaForce® units.
