Established in 1991, Euro Foods Group is a wholesale supplier to the catering industry, delivering to restaurants, takeaways and specialist supermarkets. The Newport-based business has grown to employ more than 1,500 people and is made up of three companies, Caterers Depot, EFG Wholesale and Masala Bazaar.

Euro Foods Group operates a fleet of 56 commercial vehicles, ranging from 7.5- to 26-tonne trucks, with the company’s larger assets already 100 per cent Carrier-cooled.

Carrier Transicold most recently provided cooling equipment for Euro Food Group’s four new 7.5-tonne Fuso Canter trucks, and will now supply systems for all new vehicles as they are added to the fleet – an agreement that confirms Carrier Transicold as the company’s sole refrigerated equipment supplier.

The new trucks were fitted with Carrier Transicold Xarios™ 500 systems, a decision based on nine years of reliable service from the company’s first two Xarios units – which both continue to perform like new – coupled with the proven performance and reliability of the Carrier Transicold systems on Euro Food Group’s larger vehicles.

Carrier Transicold recommended the Xarios as the ideal choice for the company’s intensive delivery schedule, which includes more than 15 drops per day, up to six days a week.

The results

"Our experience with Carrier Transicold systems has been really positive. To still be getting first class reliability after almost a decade of service is testament to the quality of the product."

The Xarios systems feature brushless fans and advanced electronic controllers which combine to produce impressive reliability with a long life in service, as well as reducing the chance of vehicle downtime.

“We operate in a crowded marketplace where service is the only thing that separates us from our competitors so reliable refrigeration equipment is key to our business,” said Neill Cannell, group transport manager, Euro Foods Group. “If units break down and we can’t deliver, we risk losing customers – it’s as simple as that.

“Our experience with Carrier Transicold systems has been really positive. To still be getting first class reliability after almost a decade of service is testament to the quality of the product. This proved to us that the time had come to switch the whole fleet to Carrier,” added Cannell.
