Carrier Transicold to Showcase Engineless Transport Refrigeration Technology at Comtrans Show 2017 in Russia

Visitors to Stand 13-150, Hall 13 can also experience Vector technology, enter “Cool Dinner”

Carrier Transicold will debut its latest high-technology solutions for an enhanced cold chain at the Comtrans Show 2017 in Moscow - including its engineless refrigeration range for over-the-road transport, now available in Russia. This new generation of transport refrigeration technology aims to improve sustainability for fleets. Carrier Transicold is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

Carrier Transicold now offers fleets refrigeration units running entirely on hydro-electric power generated by a truck’s ultra-clean Euro 6 engine - cutting emissions, maintenance costs and improving fuel efficiency.

This new technology will be on display at the Carrier Transicold stand in Hall 13 with an ECO-DRIVE GenSet unit. When mounted to a commercial vehicle, the ECO-DRIVE GenSet is driven by a hydro pump connected to the truck’s power take-off  motor. The hydraulic system drives a generator that delivers electrical power to the host Carrier Transicold unit, without any requirement for the refrigeration unit to use its own diesel engine.

Integrated into the hydraulic system is a control unit that ensures the generator consistently runs the same number of revolutions. This maintains constant power, even when the truck is idling in heavy traffic – eliminating any need for the driver to rev the truck’s engine to provide sufficient cooling power.

In addition to the ECO-DRIVE GenSets, Carrier Transicold now offers a full range of engineless refrigeration units for trucks in single or multi-temperature, providing a cooling capacity of up to 18 kilowatts (0°C/30°C). Additionally, the fuel consumption of trucks equipped with the new unit is measurably lower than those using refrigeration units that require their own engine. This engineless technology is compatible with natural gas and conventional diesel truck engines.

“With this addition to our range we can offer the equivalent power capacity of a high output trailer unit,” said Igor Shalimov, director, business development, Russia & CIS, Carrier Transicold. “It’s the ideal transport refrigeration system for urban distribution truck fleets requiring a high cooling capacity from low engine speed and with limited impact on the environment.”

Vector® 1350, more power for improved trailer cold chain performance

Carrier Transicold will also present its Vector 1350 unit for trailer refrigeration. With 13,100 watts of refrigeration capacity, the updated Vector 1350 provides more power for the transportation of perishable goods. Achieving a lower noise level of just 69 decibels, the Vector 1350 unit provides added comfort for drivers and neighbors during deliveries. At the same time, the unit’s light weight of approximately 643 kilograms enables haulers to carry larger payloads, offering greater reliability as a result of the updated software.

The “Cool Dinner”: a new campaign

To highlight the important role it plays in getting fresh food from “farm to fork,” Carrier Transicold has launched “The Cool Dinner” campaign to provide a behind-the-scenes look at how the company’s refrigerated transport systems help talented chefs delight taste buds across Europe.Visitors to Carrier Transicold’s Comtrans Show stand will see the premier of the first season, “The Cool and Sweet Cheese Experience.” That premier will track tasty Emmental Swiss cheese from the Käserei Längacker-Brügglen dairy in the Swiss Alps, north to St. Petersburg, Russia – a journey emphasizing how Carrier Transicold’s equipment and pan-European service network help deliver temperature-sensitive cargo fresh and on time.

The cheese’s journey will culminate in a mouth-watering recipe from Anton Isakov, a prestigious local chef, who will also transform the Swiss cheese into delicious canapes live at Carrier Transicold’s stand during the Comtrans Show on September 5- 7 beginning at noon.

The Cool Dinner campaign also features a contest where visitors to the website can enter to win a dinner for four, cooked by a local chef in the comfort of their own home. Registration will also be open to all who visit the Carrier Transicold stand.
