Carrier Donates More Than 500 Air Conditioning and Heating Systems to Habitat for Humanity

ATLANTA -

NFL Pro Bowler and philanthropist Warrick Dunn joins Carrier in Atlanta to celebrate the ductless home comfort system donation to Habitat for Humanity

This summer, homeowners across the United States will beat the heat with the help of Carrier ductless home comfort systems and Habitat for Humanity. Carrier has donated more than 500 systems to Habitat and they will be installed in homes throughout the country to provide cooling when it’s hot and heating when it’s cold. Carrier is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

Carrier has teamed up with pro football legend and longtime Habitat supporter, Warrick Dunn, in Atlanta to celebrate the donation. For 20 years, Dunn’s Home for the Holidays program has provided single mothers working toward their first home purchase with financial assistance. He began the program in honor of his late mother, a Louisiana police officer killed in the line of duty.

“I’ve been working with Habitat for Humanity for many years and appreciate all they do across the county to help families achieve the dream of affordable home ownership. Working with Carrier feels like a natural extension of our efforts as they offer a product that brings comfort to families in homes everywhere - and something our families often struggle to afford,” said former Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year and philanthropist Warrick Dunn. “Atlanta has been so good to me and my family, and I am grateful for the opportunity to highlight the work Habitat is doing here and in communities nationwide.”

Meredith Emmerich, managing director, Carrier, Ductless & Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems, spearheaded the campaign to donate the systems and is working with Dunn to spread the word.

“Carrier is excited about this donation. We understand the importance of being comfortable in your home and how good it can feel to turn on the cool air in the middle of the summer to relax and refresh. To work with Habitat to provide this comfort to hundreds of homeowners is a great joy for Carrier and one of the highlights of our year,” said Emmerich. “Through innovative relationships, like that with Habitat, and our relentless commitment to product innovation, Carrier is excited to provide ductless home comfort systems to these families.”

Today’s celebration comes two decades after Carrier began its relationship with Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity, where it has donated a home comfort system to every home it’s built. Since then, Carrier and United Technologies have sponsored Habitat home builds across the country and thousands of employees have volunteered their time to support the construction.

“The generosity of companies like Carrier helps families improve their lives and achieve strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter,” said Colleen Finn Ridenhour, senior vice president of Development at Habitat for Humanity International. “We are grateful for the support of Carrier and its employees to help make a difference in the lives of families across the country.”

Carrier has been working with local Habitat organizations and Carrier Factory Authorized Dealers nationwide throughout this year to install the donated systems.

“I’ve been doing this for years with Carrier here around Atlanta and it’s always an amazing opportunity to see the joy and appreciation from the families and to know how much we’ve impacted their lives,” said Tom Deator, owner, Georgia Climate Control. “It’s an amazing opportunity to help make these homes as comfortable as possible for the families.”

Carrier ductless systems can be applied to almost any space and are efficient to operate. The expanded Carrier offerings of ductless and VRF products are applied for home remodels, upgrading the comfort level in a single room or whole home, whether a homeowner is renovating or working with a builder for new construction.
