Kahn Air Conditioning installation of Carrier central air unit
The a/c went out the Friday of Labor Day weekend, and I returned home to discover the a/c was blowing hot air. Since it was after 5 p.m., the office had closed for the long weekend, so I sent an email expecting it to be read on Tuesday morning. Much to my surprise, Dan Darst called on Saturday, and was able to schedule a technician to come by that day. Sadly, the refrigerant was leaking in several spots, and getting a new unit was the best solution. Install day was set up for Wednesday, but the selected unit was delayed in transit, and did not get installed until Friday morning. The process went smoothly, the 2 installers worked steadily and efficiently, despite the 105\-plus degree temps. The heater did not come on, and was diagnosed as there being a faulty wire, but the installer was able to use an alternate wire to complete the installation. Fast forward to mid\-Dec, and an intermittent problem occurred where the fan does not shut down once target temp is reached. Playing with the temporary Hold feature, I realized the issue occurs when the Hold feature is used to increase 3 or more degrees above ambient temp, occasionally at 2 degrees, but not if the programmed system settings are used (i.e., temp Hold not activated). Sent Dan a detailed email, we had a phone discussion, and he will stop by to check the thermostat function (when I can get away from work).
