Here is the good, bad and ugly about our install.
We had hear good things about Irbis from friends and neighbors and they are decent for basic installs. our installation was more complicated as we had a multi-zone system and they had to expand our floor vents.
The good, they did a decent job on the mechanical and brazing the line set between the air handler and the outdoor unit. Unfortunately they had issues with nearly every other phase of the install.
The bad, they left trash in the street including a bunch of screws and nails and left a bunch of crap in the crawl space. Every time they come out we find screws, cut wire, insulation and trash strewn around the furnace closet and around the compressor. We have a new puppy and have asked them on multiple occasions to make sure they clean up and pick up all of the screws and trash at the end of the job.
After they tore out our old system they informed us that we needed to replace all of our duct work which felt a bit like bait and switch move as we had agreed to keeping the duct work when we scoped the project. We agreed to replacing all of the duct work and they were supposed to also replace the sheet metal plenum but reused the old plenum, didn't do the insulation they promised, and did not properly fire proof the mechanical room. I had to double check a lot of their work and call them on not doing things completely and correctly.
Their contact states that they will cover all of the plenum with reflectex which they did not do and left our old reused plenum with fiberglass insulation. Their contract covered them running a brand new circuit to the furnace for $850 which they charged us for but they reused the old circuit and just converted it to a 240v circuit by installing a new breaker.
The ugly: They absolutely butchered our hardwood floors and cut the vents wrong, not straight and cut the flfoor joists, leaving our floor unsupported around the vents. We had to have another contractor come in and repair the floors and replace the floor joists. Irbis is going to buy us oversized floor vents to cover up the damage to the floors, and paid for the other contractor to redo the floor joists.
When their guy went to provision the system I had to walk him through the install steps as he didn't understand all of the questions that the install program was asking. They know how to install the equipment, but not how it works and anything beyond the basics.
They wired the control system with high voltage wire nuts in a way that is not recommended and pretty much guaranteed to fail over time. I'm going to end up rewiring the control system myself because they refused to fix it stating that "its fine and this is the way they always do it". They insisted that we pay the full amount of the invoice before the end of the year or we would not get the federal tax credit even they they were not completely done installing our system.
We are still waiting for them to finish their punch list so that we can get our duct testing completed and get our final permit. At this point I just want them to finish the last few punch list items so that I can get them to finish and get our project wrapped up. We will not be using them for maintenance and don't recommend using them based on our experience.
