As we’re now into the most extreme February winter thrown to us in Ontario, I’m coming back here to write another review since having Hargrave Heating & Air Conditioning install my new Carrier furnace back in October 2025. I spent almost two months doing detailed research in the runup to replace my 30-year-old furnace and air conditioner, and then a couple of weeks getting quotes from various suppliers. I settled on what seemed to be the best option for make, Carrier, and contractor, Hargrave Heating & Air Conditioning. Now that it has been several months of the worst winter in a while as I sit here comfortable and warm, I’m content that my efforts have paid off. Hargrave was a pleasure to deal with, much more so than the other suppliers/contractors I tried to work with. They (Tim) helped me select the correct furnace model/size, which has now proven itself, and the installation crew was prompt, professional and excellent. My new furnace now purrs along keeping my house temperature well balanced and comfortable. Hargrave also did an excellent job installing my new Carrier Air Conditioner for which, given their excellence, I have great confidence in for summer 2026.

Replacement of Old 3T Carrier (circa 1978) AC
Arrived home from vacation to find water running out from under furnace \- uh oh! AC problem! Thankfully no damage to furnace. Was able to book urgent diagnostic with Steve from Hargrave, a company I have previously relied upon when my furnace blower packed it in a few years ago. Long story short, the cost to band\-aid the existing old, very energy\-inefficient system (seer probably 6 or 7) was prohibitive so went with a complete replacement. Hargrave not only waived the diagnostic call charge but also gave me a nice discount on the overall project. It was about a week later that the crew arrived (busy summer!) and the removal of the old unit plus installation of a new 2.5T much more energy\-efficient compressor, condenser coils, updating the electrical connection to current code, and re\-plumbing went without a hitch. They even removed the old, inoperable power dehumidifier and plugged the holes in the ductwork for me. That wasn't part of the original scope of work but they readily accommodated my request. Very pleased with the crew's professionalism and attention to detail, and of course, VERY pleased the house temperature was shortly below 30 degrees Celsius again!! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hargrave to anyone in need of HVAC services and will continue to rely upon them for ongoing maintenance for both my furnace (also Carrier) and air conditioner. Thanks very much folks...!! :)

Tim was knowledgeable, honest and quick to respond. Doris was efficient at dealing with the administrative issues. The technicians were polite and made sure the carpeting and floor were covered with drop cloth. They quickly figured out where they could put the two pipes through to the outside with little impact to the walls and ceiling. When they left we noticed a leak where the hose was attached to the existing hose for the AC. I called them and they came back the same day and fixed it.
