Reliability Earns Carrier Transicold Sole Supplier Status with Euro Foods Group

WARRINGTON, England -

Euro Foods Group has selected Carrier Transicold as its sole transport refrigeration equipment supplier, with four new 7.5-tonne trucks fitted with XariosTM 500 systems. Carrier Transicold, which operates in the UK as Carrier Transicold (UK) Limited, is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

After nine years of reliable service from two Xarios units – which continue to perform like new – the Newport-based catering supplier and food distributor is rolling-out Carrier Transicold equipment across its remaining fleet as new vehicles are added.

The latest trucks join a commercial fleet of 56 vehicles, ranging from 7.5- to 26-tonne trucks. The proven performance and reliability of the temperature-controlled systems on the larger vehicles, which are already 100 per cent Carrier-cooled, cemented the company’s decision.

“We operate in a crowded marketplace where service is the only thing that separates us from our competitors so reliable refrigeration equipment is key to our business,” said Neill Cannell, group transport manager, Euro Foods Group. “If units break down and we can’t deliver, we risk losing customers – it’s as simple as that.”

“Our experience with Carrier Transicold systems has been really positive. To still be getting first class reliability after almost a decade of service is testament to the quality of the product. This proved to us that the time had come to switch the whole fleet to Carrier,” added Cannell.

The four new Carrier Transicold Xarios 500 systems, mounted to Fuso Canter trucks featuring Solomon bodies, were chosen for their suitability to Euro Foods Group’s intensive delivery schedule, which includes more than 15 drops per day. The systems’ brushless fans and advanced electronic controllers reduce the chance of vehicle downtime, combining impressive reliability with a long life in service.

The company’s commercial fleet operates up to six days a week, delivering a diverse range of products. Two of the new vehicles will be based at the company’s Newport headquarters, with the remainder operating from the firm’s Darlaston and Hayes sites.

Euro Foods Group is a wholesale supplier to the catering industry, restaurants, takeaways and specialist supermarkets. Established in 1991, the company has grown to employ more than 1,500 people and is made up of three companies, Caterers Depot, EFG Wholesale and Masala Bazaar.
