Erontrans Reduces Fuel Use with Carrier Transicold Vector™ 1550 Units

PRUSZCZ GDAŃSKI, Poland, June __, 2014 – Erontrans Logistics Services, a leading logistics provider serving Poland and western Europe, is reaping the benefits of lower fuel consumption since acquiring Vector™ 1550 refrigeration units from Carrier Transicold Poland. Carrier Transicold helps improve global transport and shipping temperature control with a complete line of equipment for refrigerated trucks, trailers and containers and is part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. Celebrating 25 years in business, Erontrans operates a fleet of more than 450 tractor-trailer rigs, with more than 50 providing hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP)-certified temperature control for perishable cargoes. Supported by Carrier Transicold equipment for two decades, Erontrans completed its own analysis of its refrigeration units’ performance, leading them to select 23 Vector 1550 units for their low fuel consumption.
“Our fuel consumption monitoring over the last two years has demonstrated that the Vector 1550 units consistently use less fuel than conventional units,” said Waldemar Eron, technical director, Erontrans.
The Vector 1550 unit’s low energy consumption is achieved by a patented combination of a hermetic compressor with an economizer, enabling the use of a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Using all-electric refrigeration technology, called E-Drive™, the Vector 1550 meets key challenges of the transport refrigeration industry, ensuring low energy consumption, enhanced environmental performance and maximum cold chain protection. Energy consumption is significantly reduced by the Vector 1550 unit’s ability to deliver capacity that is precisely matched to the given demand.
The Vector 1550 units also are setting new standards for reliability and uptime. E-Drive technology enhances reliability through the elimination of many of the serviceable parts found with conventional refrigeration units. As a result, maintenance and downtime are reduced.

Beyond the operational performance benefits, Eron notes that the Vector 1550 units have helped the Erontrans fleet reduce its environmental impact. Owing to its low fuel consumption, the Vector 1550 unit’s overall carbon impact is reduced by up to 35 percent compared with competitive conventional systems. That is the equivalent of removing 2.8 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, per unit, per year compared with conventional systems.
