Carrier’s Danaos™ and Cabrio™ Convertible Counters Create New Merchandising Opportunities for Retailers
COLOGNE -
Danaos™ CC and Cabrio™ convertible counters provide greater flexibility and merchandising opportunities for European retailers. These models feature innovative, multi-functional designs that enable easy adjustment from self-serve to serve-over applications whether installed in a shop, supermarket or hypermarket. Carrier, the world’s leader in high-technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, is part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The counter section is a main focus area in European food retailers’ efforts to attract shoppers. Food retailers increasingly look for refrigeration solutions that enable more flexibility in product portfolio selection and forms of presentation, ultimately leading to better customer service. The Danaos CC and Cabrio convertible counters eliminate the need for shop operators to purchase multiple displays, offering the option to change the merchandise setup as needed. Fresh or pre-packed food can be displayed in either self-serve or serve-over format, providing flexibility for operator availability and shop hours. Conversion is easily performed by a shop operator, with no special tools or training required.

“The Danaos CC and Cabrio counters enable retailers to easily adapt according to customer needs, a requirement in today’s competitive marketplace,” said Anna Pittarello, product manager, Carrier Commercial Refrigeration Europe. “Both counters demonstrate Carrier’s commitment to providing innovative solutions that best serve the customer.”
The Danaos CC model extends the existing Danaos line of self-service and serve-over counters. The modern and attractive flat design of the Danaos CC counter promotes high product visibility, making it particularly suitable for merchandising of premium products such as meats and delicatessen items. It features vertical glass and a fixed top canopy, enabling change from self-service to serve-over in one easy step.
With back supports equipped with self-service and serve-over front glasses, the Cabrio enables changeover in a few easy steps. The plug-in version of the Cabrio unit is small enough to enable quick and easy relocation to another part of the shop, making it a suitable option for displaying special exhibitions, product launches, regional specialties or other promotional products.
Both units are offered in four lengths and have remote and plug-in versions for maximum adaptability. Each is available in three aesthetic designs, providing multiple options for retailers and further demonstrating the systems’ flexibility.
Carrier presented both products at EuroShop in Dusseldorf, Germany, earlier this year.
