When the compressor was installed, it started screeching very loudly when they powered it up. We informed one of the installers who looked panicked and ran upstairs to get the other installer who was in the attic. By the time they came down the screeching had stopped however the unit was not blowing cold air. They pulled all of the filters and then had to drain and recharge the unit which I thought was wrong since it was my understanding that these units come factory ready. They did get it working. 3 days later the unit stopped working. We had to call after hour service as it was over 100F outside. Over the next couple of months the AC quite working constantly (everytime the outside Temp went over 90F) Each time they came out to service we were told a different cause every time. We were told that it must be due to the furnace blower (compatibility with the new condenser) since we didn’t have it replaced so we went ahead with purchasing a new furnace as opposed to just having the fan replaced. Obviously that would mean an entire new system in our minds and then there should be no issues. Within a day after the furnace was installed the same issue, the system stopped working. I personally climbed into the attic to observe the large amount of condensation leaking from the condenser box which kept tripping the safety puck. The box was covered in metal duct tape in an obvious attempt to contain the leaking. Manager finally came out to review himself all of the issues and discovered crews used the old condenser box when they installed the compressor. He reset the unit and ordered the new parts. That night, the outdoor compressor began screeching again and rattling. We caught this on video and shared with the company. It was very obvious that this compressor was bad from the get go as well. During the course of all of this we blew through 2 Honeywell T9 thermostats, something that we absorbed the cost for because we didn’t want to deal with them again. In the middle of all of this, I contacted 2 other contractors both of which could not believe what they saw as far as the install and taping. One contractor came down stairs with all of the old AC lines that the installers throw into the insulation in our attic and left there. When I followed with one of the contractors for the quote he informed me that he was asked by Carrier not to quote or get involved as Carrier had just been informed that there was a warranty issue that morning. This left us forced to business with this company or have all of the equipment removed and risk not getting reimbursed the $24K we had now spent. The company did finally come in and replace the entire AC system and the system appears to be operational however, by the time this all was resolved the weather did get cooler. This is by far the worst experience we have had with any work that we have had performed ever. We are heading into summer shortly and we will see how the equipment performs as we do not have much faith that the replacement equipment was installed properly.

Equipment availability good, Install Good. Knowledgeable Service Technicians. At the end of install they get out of there as fast as they can. They do not stay to make fine tune adjustments such as fan speed settings, post heat fan extension time or make sure the furnace panels are in the right configuration or circuit board LED display is facing the right direction. Equipment is left in basic default configuration/settings and they leave. Also only basic thermostat fire up but no basic setting like Home, Sleep and Away or other customizations like energy savings settings etc. This often causes the technicians to have to do a follow up appointment. A waste of time and resources for not wanting to take the extra needed time and post install adjustments on the Unit and the Thermostat. Happened to us and the people we referred who had installations done by Precision Air. Recommendation: Have the Technicians take the time after install and make sure both the Unit and the Thermostat has any needed adjustments over the default settings before you leave, and help the customer customize the thermostat and how to use it. Besides that All is good.
