It's a legitimate shop, but the technicians lack proper training
I purchased Carrier heat pumps twice from Tyler, upstairs in 2022 and downstairs in 2024, because they were the only authorized Carrier dealer in this area. Overall, they are an honest legitimate service provider, not a scummy cheating con shop. Their level of expertise in electric systems, however, is highly suspect. My house originally had an oil furnace/hot water/central air heating setup. Because the heat pumps would become ineffective below 25°F, we had to keep the hot water option as backup. This required some rewiring of the control circuitry, which was not done right in 2022. Unfortunately, I accepted the installation as complete without verifying that the backup hot water was properly connected, due to unfamiliarity with the Carrier panel. A cold front that winter brought temperature down to 0°F,and the hot water pipe in the attic, with no hot water circulating, subsequently burst. I repaired the pipe myself but was incapable to fixing the improperly connected electric circuit. It took six phone calls and a threat of lawsuit before Tyler agreed to fix the bad installation. Two years later, the downstairs system was once again improperly connected to the electric control circuit. This time, I caught it during installation, but the technicians were unable to correct the problem on the spot. Fortunately, it only took two phone calls before someone who knew what he was doing arrived and fixed the problem.
