Disappointed in installation/ mostly pleased with warranty service.
A hurried installation. Installers failed to insure good connection to unit and required 3 or 4return service visits over the first year to eventually correct a power connection issue that was likely known at the installation but not addressed. The installers were both team leads working on Saturday by their choice. I was kind of disappointed. Repairs to be corrected were not entirely covered under warranty. So I had additional expense for parts.I think three or four service calls to fix an installation is excessive. But they did fix it. They mostly honored the warranty, but I did have charges for the power supply wire when they finally decided to replace it.which I didn’t really mind. I may use the company again and even got an estimate from them on another unit at a different location last year but have made up my mind to use them or not use the again. At the moment, I’m thinking I will give them another chance. Respectable and nice people and everybody makes mistakes.. maybe just an isolated case. I am a retired mechanical engineer with a masters degree and 30 years experience. Also have been a realtor for over 30 years mostly managing my rental properties over that period. I used to use them, but they had a policy of not working on rental properties for a while and I guess since then they have changed their policy. That was their first job for me in many years. So basically I like the people and I thought they were trying to do something, but I just felt like you know one of those things that should’ve been checked out at installation, but since it was Saturday and all the places that supply parts were closed… i’ve had worse experiences with other companies that contract out installers. I’ll probably give them a call soon and give them another chance mostly due to this review getting to thinking about it. I can’t honestly give them a high rating on this particular job partly because I’m a realtor and partly because I’m a mechanical engineer. But I think they’re a good company overall and I’ve actually worked on testing carrier products myself in the acoustics lab as a research assistant in grad school. So I like the brand —certainly better than Goodman. I’ve probably bought at least 20 new units…and hired many repairs… and even helped install a couple.. won’t do that again. What I like about Joe East was the installation manager, a former sheriff, deputy, didn’t hire the druggies and all the people that were there looked and acted like professionals. I’ve had druggie teams install from other businesses. The units work but they just didn’t have that thorough touch and looked sloppy. Would say I liked everything about the Joe East job except over looking the power cord and connection and then inconveniencing my tenants and me multiple times to correct the problem. It also caused me to wonder about the initial diagnosis of the previous until which was replaced a little earlier than expected…after 7or 8 years. But again, I didn’t like the previous people that installed the one that was replaced and I didn’t like the way the previous company installed it, but at least it worked throughout the warranty period. I usually don’t rate people or companies if I can’t give them a good rating…but you guys have kept bugging me to do it; so here it is;).
