Carrier’s AquaEdge Chillers Provide Energy Savings and Reliable Operation for SK Group’s Electric Vehicle Battery Plant

Carrier China provided 17 AquaEdge® 19XR centrifugal chillers to South Korea's SK Innovation Co Ltd (SK Group) for the company’s newest and largest electric vehicle battery manufacturing plant located in Yangcheng, China. Carrier China is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), the leading global provider of healthy, safe, sustainable and intelligent building and cold chain solutions.

Carrier’s heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) solution supports SK Group’s environmentally responsible $2.53 billion plant with high-efficiency chillers that provide different cooling capacities to meet energy saving and reliability requirements under China’s dual carbon strategy, to peak its emissions by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2060. The chillers provide constant process cooling for the production of electric vehicle batteries and operate under low loads even during transitional seasons, which helps to create a safer and more efficient operation environment.

“Electric vehicle batteries are key for the development and growth of new energy vehicle technologies, and we are proud to contribute to this sustainable electrification chain,” said Cissy Wang, Managing Director, Applied Equipment, Carrier HVAC North Asia. “Carrier is committed to providing high-end manufacturing facilities with more reliable, efficient and intelligent HVAC solutions and working with customers to create sustainable built environments.”
