Underscoring its commitment to the development of sustainable cities in China, Carrier is introducing several innovative energy-efficient heating, ventilating, air-conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) solutions at the 2015 China Refrigeration Exhibition in Shanghai. Carrier is the world’s leader in high-technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, and is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
Carrier will debut its versatile AquaEdge™ 19XR 3000-RT two-stage centrifugal chiller at the show, which achieves energy efficiency levels using proven technology designed specifically for non-ozone depleting refrigerant. Carrier will also introduce a number of commercial, light-commercial and residential air-conditioning systems, including the AquaForce® 30XAV air-cooled variable-speed screw chiller and the Carrier Floor Standing series, as well as refrigeration solutions for retailers of all sizes.
Held each year since 1987, the China Refrigeration Exhibition is the largest HVACR trade fair in China, welcoming more than 40,000 industry professionals from more than 100 countries.
“The new breakthrough solutions we are introducing underscore Carrier’s strengths in innovation and technology leadership,” said George Li, vice president, Carrier China. “Our energy-saving products generate savings for building owners and developers while enhancing occupant comfort.”
Globally, buildings consume 40 percent of the world’s energy, with 40 percent of that energy consumed by HVAC systems. Carrier’s high-efficiency chillers can save energy costs while minimizing environmental impact. “Energy efficient technologies are a major opportunity for the building segment and one that has to become the standard if China is to achieve its ‘New-Type Urbanization,’” said Ross Shuster, president, UTC Building & Industrial Systems, Asia. “Carrier is committed to leading the transformation by continuing to invest in innovative, energy-efficient products and solutions that enable more green buildings.”
AquaEdge 19XR two-stage centrifugal chiller
Carrier’s China Refrigeration Exhibition product introduction lineup is headlined by the AquaEdge 19XR, which is the latest member of the AquaEdge two-stage centrifugal chiller family. The AquaEdge 19XR has a refrigeration capacity of up to 3,000 tons, a 6.5 coefficient of performance (COP), and operates quietly at just 85 decibels.
The AquaEdge19XR two-stage centrifugal chiller can maintain heat pump temperatures as high as 65 degrees Celsius for indoor comfort while leaving water temperature as low as -6 degrees Celsius for rapid ice making. It can be used to replace boiler heating, reducing emissions to help mitigate pollution.
The AquaEdge 19XR centrifugal chiller also uses a two-stage compressor that is optimized with dynamic simulation technology and designed to integrate with its intermediate economizer. It relies on non-ozone depleting HFC-134a refrigerant and incorporates an enhanced heat transfer tube. It also features an advanced integrated, intelligent control system with a color touch screen and graphical user interface. The chiller is energy efficient, and ideal for a wide range of demanding applications, including district cooling and heating, large commercial complexes, airports and data centers.
The first AquaEdge 19XR centrifugal chillers will be deployed at the iconic new Taipei Dome stadium. Taipei Dome, which is due to open this year, will be a new landmark for Taipei and the main stadium of the 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade. The premises also include a mixed office complex and a hotel.
AquaForce 30XAV air-cooled variable-speed screw chiller
Carrier is also introducing its new AquaForce 30XAV air-cooled variable-speed chiller. With Greenspeed variable-speed technology and the new Touch Pilot control platform, the AquaForce 30XAV is able to match load conditions, delivering exceptional part-load performance.
The Integrated Part Load Value (IPLV) of the AquaForce 30XAV is as high as 5.4 and the chiller operates 10 decibels less than comparable systems, According to Carrier studies, in some buildings, the AquaForce 30XAV offers an average payback period of less than two years.
The AquaForce 30XAV reinforces Carrier’s leadership in variable-speed technology. Since developing its first variable-speed centrifugal chiller decades ago, Carrier has offered industry-leading, energy-efficient options for customers, including the world’s first water-cooled tri-rotor variable-speed screw chiller in 2010.
Light-commercial and residential solutions
Carrier will also feature a portfolio of HVAC solutions for light-commercial and residential applications in China and around the world.
- AquaFlow™ VWV family
Carrier is extending the scope of its innovative AquaFlow™ variable water volume (VWV) family of products with the launch of the new VWV-EVI and VWV-PLUS systems. Using the VWV AquaFlow demand control ventilation device (with a 5 to 7 inch color touch screen) and powerful control platform, these new systems are convenient to install and operate, providing more options for energy-efficient air-conditioning systems.
- Carrier Floor Standing
The Carrier Floor Standing series is a powerful residential air-conditioning solution. Incorporating Carrier’s state-of-the-art variable refrigerant flow (VRF) technology, this innovative air-purifying system delivers precise air-conditioning and improved indoor air quality, with a nine-layer air-filtering function that eliminates the need for a separate air purifier.
Commercial refrigeration solutions
Carrier offers sustainable solutions for the commercial refrigeration segment. At the same time, Carrier is also helping food retailers preserve food within a limited physical space by increasing productivity of display cabinets.
- SPI (Semi Plug-in) Integrated HVAC & Refrigeration System
- Hybrid CO₂ System
A new hybrid CO₂ refrigeration system from Carrier can reduce the refrigerant charge near 50 percent and improve energy performance near 10 percent. As a natural refrigerant, CO₂ has a global warming potential (GWP) of one and zero ozone depletion potential (ODP).
- MT DC Inverter CDU
This top-mount refrigerator features a DC inverter compressor and DC inverter fan to offer food retailers 35 percent energy saving and lower noise.
