Used this furnace for a year now. The variable features are nice, as it heats the house evenly and is much more efficient that the single stage. Would recommend this furnace to everyone. Had no issues with humidity.

Worked well the first four seasons, then the problems started. Gas valve failed at the start of the fifth heating season. Warranty did not cover everything and the cost was over 400 dollars to fix it. At the start of the seventh heating season it threw an error code and stopped heating. Got it checked out and the heat exchanger rotted through in just six years! Thankfully the warranty covered this part as it would have been a major expense. At the end of year eight I started receiving another error code, but seemed to work okay after a reset. I constantly worry about the furnace breaking down while I'm away. If I'm gone for more than a few days in the winter I turn my well pump off because I can't trust this furnace will be working while I'm gone. Sad. I used to equate Carrier with quality and dependability, but not any longer.

1. To the original owner on eligible equipment for eligible residential applications. Warranty period is 5 years if not registered within 90 days. Jurisdictions where warranty benefits cannot be conditioned on registration will automatically receive a 10-year parts limited warranty, which can be changed to the 5-year parts, plus a 3-year labor option on eligible equipment within the first 90 days after installation. The 5-year parts, plus 3-year labor warranty option is available only if the installing dealer/contractor has elected to participate in the Consumer Choice warranty program and has accepted the Consumer Choice dealer terms and conditions.

This furnace does not comply with SCAQMD Rule 1111 or SJVAPCD Rule 4905, which places a NOx emission limit of 14 ng/J. Therefore, this unit is not eligible to be installed in the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) nor the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD).
