An Almost Perfect Solution to Our Heating Needs

At the beginning of our sixth heating season we were without heating for ten days. A flashing code indicated to me (using Carrier\-supplied troubleshooting) a gas valve failure. The certified technician did tests that plausibly indicated to him (due to voltage reading irregularities and fan non\-performance) it was a problem with the circuit board. He ordered a new board and returned to install it but still got the gas valve failure error code. He then ordered a replacement gas valve and the system is functioning perfectly. We were happy to know that replacement parts are readily available and the warranty coverage is dependable. I accept that problems are inevitable with such a sophisticated heating system, but I suggest that Carrier consider tweaking the troubleshooting guidelines so as to pinpoint a problem when it occurs.

Jurisdictions where warranty benefits cannot be conditioned on registration will automatically receive a 10-year parts limited warranty, which can be changed to the 5-year parts, plus a 3-year labor option on eligible equipment within the first 90 days after installation. The 5-year parts, plus 3-year labor warranty option is available only if the installing dealer/contractor has elected to participate in the Consumer Choice warranty program and has accepted the Consumer Choice dealer terms and conditions.

This furnace does not comply with SCAQMD Rule 1111 or SJVAPCD Rule 4905, which places a NOx emission limit of 14 ng/J. Therefore, this unit is not eligible to be installed in the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) nor the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD).
