Carrier unit is energy efficient and good on the heating side but not happy with the cooling side.

On the positive side, the unit is very energy efficient and the heating side is very good. On the negative side, the thermostat is overly complex, and even after a couple of years, I still forget how to set certain options (the HVAC techs also seem to have the same problem). While the unit cools well, the dehumidification feature is horrible. To reduce humidity, the system keeps cooling until it is freezing in the house (despite saying that it only cools 3 degrees lower than the setting \-\- it cooled it 9 degrees lower than the setting). I had to turn the feature off (it was just too cold) and now have to purchase a whole house dehumidifier. I called Carrier about it who referred me back to the dealer who said that that's the way the unit works.

The furnace has been great but finding replacement filters has been a nightmare. Finally I opted to get some custom made filters after trying to contact Carrier to get the correct ones to no avail.

1. To the original owner on eligible equipment for eligible residential applications. Warranty period is 5 years if not registered within 90 days. Jurisdictions where warranty benefits cannot be conditioned on registration will automatically receive a 10-year parts limited warranty, which can be changed to the 5-year parts, plus a 3-year labor option on eligible equipment within the first 90 days after installation. The 5-year parts, plus 3-year labor warranty option is available only if the installing dealer/contractor has elected to participate in the Consumer Choice warranty program and has accepted the Consumer Choice dealer terms and conditions.
2. To the original owner on eligible equipment for eligible residential applications. Lifetime heat exchanger parts limited warranty period is 20 years if not registered within 90 days. Jurisdictions where warranty benefits cannot be conditioned on registration will automatically receive a lifetime heat exchanger parts limited warranty. See warranty certificate for details.
This furnace does not comply with SCAQMD Rule 1111 or SJVAPCD Rule 4905, which places a NOx emission limit of 14 ng/J. Therefore, this unit is not eligible to be installed in the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) nor the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD).
