Carrier Transicold Names Southern States Utility, Transclima de Centroamérica 2015 Dealers of the Year

ATHENS, Ga. -

Southern States Utility Trailer Sales, Inc. of Richland, Mississippi, was named Carrier Transicold’s 2015 North America Dealer of the Year, and Transclima de Centroamérica, S.A. of San Jose, Costa Rica, was named 2015 Latin America Dealer of the Year at the recent annual meeting of Carrier Transicold’s Americas Truck/Trailer/Rail dealers. Carrier Transicold is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

Now in its 20th year as a Carrier Transicold dealer, Southern States Utility serves customers throughout most of Mississippi from its operation near Jackson. Rebuilt in 2008 after a tornado destroyed its original facility, the dealership was expanded in 2015 and now includes six drive-through service bays dedicated to refrigeration system installation and service.

“We appreciate this recognition, we’re excited about it, and it means a great deal to our organization,” said Percy Thornton, chief executive officer, Southern States Utility. “This award is not just about sales. It’s about service and every aspect of the business. Each employee’s contribution is important to our success.”

In addition to achieving its first Dealer of the Year award, Southern States Utility received a NextLevel2 Platinum award, which is a prerequisite for achieving Dealer of the Year. The NextLevel2 Platinum award recognizes achievements in customer satisfaction, business investment, service proficiency, sales performance and growth.

Latin America Dealer of the Year, Transclima de Centroamérica, achieved the recognition just as it commemorates its silver anniversary as a Carrier Transicold dealer, having joined the network in 1991.

“Transclima de Centroamérica has been a solid performer year after year, regardless of the economy,” said Jesús Estrada, general manager, Carrier Transicold Truck Trailer, Latin America. “In 2015, they took critical steps to strengthen their organization, which enabled significant growth in their segment.

“With its clear customer focus, and emphasis on customer service, Transclima has become a leading provider of cold chain solutions in Costa Rica,” Estrada added. Transclima de Centroamérica also received a NextLevel2 Perfect Score award, which recognizes the top scores in key business areas.

In addition to the dealers of the year, W & B Service Company of Duncanville, Texas, received Carrier Transicold’s Extra Mile award in recognition of outstanding customer service, while its parts manager, Gary Safcsak, was recognized as Dealer Parts Manager of the Year. Individual awards were also presented to Jim Casey of Carrier Transicold South, in St. Rose, Louisiana, who was named Dealer Sales Manager of the Year, and John Schoonveld of Reefer Service, in Hudsonville, Michigan, named Dealer Service Manager of the Year.

Overall a record 55 dealers and three individuals were recognized with 94 awards for 2015 performance, business development and personal achievement.

The annual dealer meeting was attended by Carrier Transicold employees and dealer representatives from the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Venezuela.
