My HVAC replacement
Our air conditioning quit in mid June of 2018, I called Choates because we'd had favorable dealings in the past. The technician came out, told me the compressor had seized and it was time to replace it. A salesman came the following day, he gave us quotes on two systems; a single stage and a multi stage condenser. He explained the benefits of the multi stage over the single, my wife and I decided we wanted the multi stage condenser system. At that time the salesman told us the price of the single stage condenser system was $7300 while the multi stage system was $10,077. A day later two technicians showed up to install our new HVAC system, during the installation I asked one of the technicians if they were in fact installing a multi stage system, he got a funny look on his face but answered yes. After about 12 hours of installing we sat down to finalize everything and pay for our new system. The technician gave me the manuals for the equipment they had installed and I noticed immediately according to the manual, they had installed a single stage condenser and a multi stage furnace. I showed him the manual and he gave me a phone number and a name to contact Monday morning. On Monday morning the person I was going to call, called me. He asked what I wanted to do, keep the single stage or have them come back and install a multi stage condenser. I told him the single was working fine so we would just keep it. Next day the salesman returns to collect payment, only this time he's saying the price of the single stage is over $9000. We discussed the price change and I don't recall exactly what he said, but bottom line he was sticking with the price. My wife and I talked a while and decided we wanted to get the multi stage condenser after all. The following week two technicians show up, replaced the condenser. While they were working two or maybe three guys stopped by. After they were done one of the technicians told us that we had a circuit board that was not compatible with the multi stage condenser and that he had already called the office to make them aware of this and someone would come out the following week to replace the board. The following week as promised two technicians come out, replaced the circuit board and installed some ducting. During the initial installation, the technicians installed a Cor 7c thermostat, I had read and understood some of the manual. I asked the technician who installed the circuit board if the the thermostat needed to be reconfigured/rewired to work with the multi stage system. He pulled the cover off the thermostat looked inside and told me it was already properly configured. I don't understand how that would be possible, to my thinking if they installed a single stage condenser, why would they wire it for multi stage operation? Oh yes one more thing, the Wi\-Fi on the thermostat is not working. I called Cor's support line three times and so far they have been unable to help. The Wi\-Fi is not crucial but it is annoying to have the capability but be unable to use it
