Carrier Extended Warranty "Game"
We have been using this service provider beginning 6 months after we purchased this property as they were the original installer. They have been providing semi\-annual routine maintenance. During this last visit, a leak in the inside coil was discovered \& the outdoor unit failed too. During this process, we were advised we were out of Warranty because we did not "register" our equipment. Neither our builder OR Modern Air during the past 5 years of regular maintenance, advise us that this was necessary. Only after I contacted Carrier directly, did I discover that the Warranty date would extend from our original purchase date and we would have 2 months of remaining coverage. I am extremely disappointed that this issue was never brought to our attention and that Carrier is willing to extend our warranty to 10 years if we had registered within 90 days of purchase, but otherwise only provides only a 5 year warranty. This seems to be a "game" in my opinion!
