Carrier Releases Redesigned Perimeter Induction Terminal Unit

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -

Carrier has released its new induction unit, the ActivAIR™ 36IU, a redesign of the legacy 36S. The unit features improved energy efficiency and performance, providing increased value and benefit to the building owner. Carrier, the world’s leader in high-technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The redesigned ActivAIR 36IU maintains the same unit dimensions as the 36S, so it can be seamlessly integrated into an existing system as a replacement component, or as a complement to induction beams in a new design.

In addition, the ActivAIR 36IU features a number of improvements, including a reduction of the inlet static pressure requirement and reduced sound levels. Plus, the unit has increased cooling and heating capacity for improved performance. The ActivAIR 36IU operates at the lowest inlet static pressure of any available induction unit, with greater heating and cooling capacity. This allows for reduction of fan energy at the air-handling unit that provides the ventilation air to the induction terminals, which results in a reduction of system energy usage.

“The newly redesigned ActivAIR 36IU is a testament to Carrier’s legacy of innovation,” said Greg Alcorn, vice president, commercial sales and marketing, Carrier. “We’ve created a flexible, versatile unit that can be seamlessly integrated as a replacement component, or it can supplement an existing system, all while providing improved efficiency and performance.”
