Carrier, the world’s leader in high technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, introduces the Infinity® Touch Control, the next generation of touch screen communicating controls. This sleek home comfort control provides Touch-n-Go™ programming and energy management features when utilized as part of a complete Carrier® Infinity heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. With integrated wireless capability, the Infinity Touch control allows homeowners to access their heating and cooling systems from virtually anywhere with a Wi-Fi network, including mobile applications supported by iPhone®, iPad® and Android™ devices. Carrier is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
The Infinity Touch Control features a high-resolution color touch screen display, making it easy to read and program. Touch-n-Go programming includes intuitive prompts and function icons so a homeowner can control the temperature, humidity and fan speed of the Infinity system with just a touch. The Infinity Touch Control allows consumers to monitor and change settings when they are away from home, stay current on maintenance schedules, and receive alerts when the system needs service. With homeowner permission, a dealer can also be named as a servicing contractor for the unit, and can see the HVAC system equipment summary and last 10 fault codes to be better prepared for a service call.
“The Infinity Touch Control is a direct result of Carrier’s commitment to leadership in the industry,” said John Gibbons, director of residential product marketing, Carrier. “Not only did we focus on the creation of a technologically advanced home comfort control, but we developed a user-friendly control with easy programming, unique personalization and on-the-go access features. The Infinity Touch Control allows homeowners to quickly and easily adjust comfort levels, manage Infinity system energy usage, and display the local weather forecast on the control screen from virtually anywhere using an Internet connection.”
The Infinity Touch Control’s energy management function can monitor the home’s estimated energy costs so homeowners can easily see the kilowatt hours used by the Infinity system and make informed decisions about ways to save on their utility bills. The homeowner or dealer simply has to input the utility pricing information into the system. In addition to the energy management function, the new control has a Smart Setback feature, providing consumers with additional money-saving options.
“One of the innovative features of the Infinity Touch Control is Smart Setback,” said Deepak Budhiraja, residential controls product manager, Carrier. “The Smart Setback feature adjusts system settings and manages the home’s temperature while the system is in the ‘away’ mode to help the homeowner save money on utility costs. Then, it will adjust the inside temperature to meet the homeowner’s desired comfort settings when they return home. It is a smart way to reduce energy usage and save money on utility bills while a homeowner is away or during peak usage periods.”
Homeowners who forget to set Smart Setback can use the mobile access feature of the Infinity Touch Control to program it while away from home – all that is needed is a Wi-Fi network. The control is sold with three different frames – white, silver and black – so a homeowner can surround the Infinity control with other picture frames and seamlessly blend it into the living space. A favorite photo of the family, a vacation spot or a pet can be uploaded to the Infinity Touch Control’s primary display screen via a USB (universal serial bus) port on the side of the control, transforming the control into a photo frame. Once a photo is uploaded to the display, the control can be awakened with a touch to reveal the control pad. When connected to a Wi-Fi network, the Infinity Touch Control can even display the local weather forecast for the week. Type in your zip code and the control will pull a five-day forecast from the Internet.
