Carrier keeps Laser Tools with MB Motorsport hospitality cool during BTCC weekend heatwave
LONDON, UK -
The Client:
Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport is a professional motorsport team competing in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). Led by former F1 driver and Le Mans winner Mark Blundell, the team combines elite-level racing experience with a strong focus on commercial collaboration, branding and fan engagement.
Since its inception, Laser Tools with MB Motorsport has built a reputation for high performance both on and off the track. The sport’s use of sustainable fuel from the 2025 season makes the team an ideal collaboration for Carrier.
Carrier has been supporting Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport since 2023, and as part of its ongoing collaboration, Carrier had the opportunity to host a Friends and Family Day during one of the race weekends. This exclusive hospitality experience offers guests premium hospitality, behind-the-scenes tours and front-row access to the high-speed qualifying action.
The Challenge:
This year, Carrier’s Friends and Family Day was held in June during Round Five of the BTCC season at Oulton Park, Cheshire. With temperatures soaring during one of the hottest BTCC weekends of the year, MB Motorsport was keen to provide a comfortable and enjoyable environment for the guests inside the hospitality tent. MB Motorsport approached Carrier, through Carrier Rental Systems, to provide a temporary air conditioning solution capable of maintaining a cool, consistent temperature, despite the heat. The system needed to perform reliably as the hospitality area was expected to remain a focal point for VIP guests, drivers and teams throughout the event weekend.
The Solution:
Carrier created a tailored air conditioning solution for the hospitality tent, designed to perform reliably in high ambient temperatures. At the heart of the setup was a CRS160 Heat Pump, a high-capacity, 160 kW unit known for its energy efficiency and versatility in large-scale temporary applications. Its ability to switch seamlessly between heating and cooling meant it was well suited to the unpredictable British summer (if needed). Inside the tent, four Nykkus AHU20/40 air handling units were strategically positioned to maintain consistent airflow and a stable, comfortable temperature throughout the space.
The Carrier team monitored performance closely throughout the day, fine-tuning the system to meet fluctuating guest requirements. The solution’s effectiveness quickly became a talking point across the paddock, with other racing teams enquiring how Carrier managed to keep the tent so comfortable in such intense heat.
The Results:
The temporary air conditioning solution exceeded expectations, creating a comfortable, welcoming environment for all guests throughout the day, who were grateful for the respite from the heat.
Feedback from attendees, other racing teams and MB Motorsport was overwhelmingly positive, with the system being noted as "the talk of the paddock".
"It was one of the hottest BTCC weekends we’ve had, but Carrier absolutely nailed it. The hospitality tent was the coolest place in the paddock and it was impressive to see how well the system held up under pressure. The team was professional, knowledgeable and totally focused on guest comfort."
– Alex Watts, Managing Director, MB Motorsport
