Basic Air Cycles is an introductory HVAC course intended for new technicians, sales representatives and other people desiring a better understanding of HVAC topics. It is one of several introductory training courses on the basics of HVAC systems.

  • Describes how HVAC systems treat air to maintain comfort conditions in residential and commercial applications.
  • Complements the ABCs of Air Conditioning program with a more detailed study of the airside performance and components of HVAC systems.
  • Topics covered include: properties of air, basic psychrometrics, air conditioning processes, fans, air distribution, duct systems, air heating and cooling systems, filtration, ventilation, IAQ components and airside control of systems servicing multiple spaces.

Completion Requirements

To receive a certificate for any module or for the complete course a student must receive a grade of 70% on the module skill check or final exam. Once you complete the exam you will be able to print a certificate.

Prerequisite requirements

Basic math skills are required to calculate electrical values in skill check problems.
