WARRINGTON, England -
Grimsby-based food logistics specialist ACS&T Logistics has updated its fleet with 13 new trailers specified with Carrier Transicold Vector™ 1550 refrigeration units – selected for their proven reliability and fuel efficiency.Carrier Transicold, which operates in the UK as Carrier Transicold (UK) Limited, is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
Fleet uptime and fuel consumption are both critical issues for ACS&T Logistics’ busy fleet, which operates around the clock transporting frozen potato products between sites in Grimsby, Scarborough, Tewkesbury and Wolverhampton.
“Our fleet has a direct impact on our ability to operate reliably and cost-effectively, and ultimately to retain our major contracts,” said Derrick West, national fleet engineer, ACS&T Logistics. “This means getting the specification of new assets spot-on is critical.”
“We can’t afford to compromise the cold chain or risk a delivery being delayed due to downtime. Choosing the Vector 1550 units gives us absolute confidence in the performance of our fleet; we know that Carrier’s technology won’t let us down.”
ACS&T Logistics selected the Vector 1550 units for their ideal blend of power and efficiency and ability to deliver exceptional pull-down, temperature control and versatility for transporting temperature-sensitive goods. Key to this is the patented combination of a hermetic compressor with an economiser – ensuring optimized efficiency and effectiveness in operation.
The new 13.6 metre Gray & Adams trailers are expected to remain in service until at least 2027 and join a fleet totalling 39 tractor units and 100 trailers with each truck averaging approximately 95,000 miles per year on trunking duties.
ACS&T Logistics is a subsidiary of the international group Camellia Plc and can trace its expertise in food logistics back almost a century. The company provides ambient, chilled and frozen integrated services to food manufacturers, wholesalers and speciality producers of all sizes, using its network of 14 cold stores, two ambient stores and comprehensive co-packing facilities.
